We seem to have a problem with our Panasonic SA-HT545 surround sound / DVD player..

Everything is fine when we switch it on but then after x amount of time it starts making a horrible noise. I've worked out that it seems to be the fan round the back that is making this noise. If I blow hard into the fan the noise stops...only to start again 10mins later....sometimes a couple of hours later.

As is the way of things, it's out of warranty so does anyone know:

1. How easy it is to replace the fan?
2. Where can I purchase a replacement fan?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

I could try that I guess. I'm a bit concerned that it might damage some other internal part though...

Having taken apart dvd players and recorders i find the problem isn't replacing the fan, you'll get an new one of any size you need to match the existing one,try maplin for example.

It's the actual connection which plugs into the motherboard you will find the difficulty with,as it will no doubt be a non standard size, microscopic even.
The basic way to get round this of course is to strip the wire back and attach the old wire to the new fan.

If you are buying a new fan first check the measurement of the existing one, next look for decibel levels printed on the package in a lot of cases, try for 20 decibels or under, screwing the new fan into place will be very easy.

The voltage looks too high though on his/her comment, fans are 12 volts and less, red wire/black wire and yellow that they have referred to is 12 volts i think.
