no. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Certainly not a split infinitive anyway.

Susie didn't disallow his suggestion of CAMPY today, however this is not in the current edition of the dictionary she uses.

I've always had a fairly low tolerance level for the dictionary corner guests but I really do feel that the standard has seriously deteriorated since the changing of the guard..i.e Carol leaving. Very few of the current crop are able to tell interesting and amusing anecdotes day after day.

I don't know why they overhauled the guests - was it to cut down on fees or did some of the stalwarts no longer want to appear?

That said, I agree with the other posters in saying that Sir Ranulph was sleep-inducingly dull the entire week. He even managed to make climbing Everest sound like a walk in the local park.

When he was talking about all the dead bodies on Everest, I wanted Nick to ask him why didn't someone bring them down?

It is extremely dangerous to do this. Rather than risk the lives of the Sherpas who would do it in the majority of cases the stiffs are quite rightly just left there.

I wish lemon face would stop saying "can I get". No, you "can have", Rachel does the getting.

It came up again today and this time I found it. Should have gone to Specsavers!

Tis annoying though. Scottish people say, "Can I get" as well. Drives me up the wall'

It's up to the person. And for another person to resort to calling her "Lemon face", just leave the forums, there is no need to be so juvenile.

Are you a relation? As for, 'it's up to the person', no it isn't, it's grammatically incorrect.

To be a bit nitpicky, but Tia is Canadian not American. However, I do agree that is annoying with the 'Can I get' now. I'm sorry, I'm just not a fan of all these Americanised expressions making their way into the English language. Can I get, give it up, plus many more drive me up the wall.

Saying that, if she lost the glasses she would be quite attractive, and yes I know that is shallow of me.

On a side note, I see that in a few weeks Gyles Brandreth is back in Dictionary Corner. Might have to give that week a miss. According to the Countdown Wiki, the guests are in order from next week:

Dr Phil Hammond
Jon Culshaw
Jo Brand
Janet Street-Porter
Connie Fisher

The "Teatime Teasers" are certainly becoming more difficult: I had real trouble constructing BOBSTAYS from a selection with two Ys and no T.

I liked Richard Digance.

I agree, there are several DC guests I would like back. Tom O Connor, Rick Wakeman, Digance to name a dew. Some now are just a massive yawn fest.

When Carol Vorderman departed several celebrities complained about her treatment, including Rick Wakeman who added 'I bet I won't be invited back after saying that'. He wasn't - and neither were many of the regular guests of the period. The one I miss most is Geoffrey Durham.
When did we last see Philip Franks or Barry Cryer?

Geoffrey Durham last appeared over two years before Carol left. He stopped making television appearances as he wanted to concentrate on live work and writing. He now does some magic consultancy and advisory work for other performers.

Philip stopped appearing on Countdown at about the same time (mid 2006)

Barry has been on since Carol left.
