It's a Daily Mail article, so make of it what you will. Sounds daft to me though, methinks it's got more to do with the fact that Rachel is married now so she is probably being a bit more conservative.

That sounds the most likely cause - but to turn it all on its head, will C4 listen if a lot more people phone/write to compliment Rachel on her shorter and more revealing garments?

I do wonder if there are a few prudes running C4 who want her to cover up more and use alleged viewer complaints as an excuse to get their way.

In itself that isn't a problem for most people as the PVR will just adjust to the time. However because it's now earlier it is more likely to be cancelled for racing - just to make room for some stupid celebrity based quiz show.

Quite possible. Short-sighted in the extreme.

It's one of the few ways that they can preserve (and even increase ratings). Nick's awkward approach to presenting and utter lack of rapport with anyone must have a fair few people turning off. It's almost a given that any DC guest or contestant will be subtly belittled and talked over at some point.

Well that just shows how well she's doing it. If you've got it... why not?

Countdown will be cancelled anyway for racing now as Chanel 4 have the rights to all the horse racing between 2013 and 2016. Which means Countdown will be screwed around so much, and I hope I am wrong with this, but I think the move will lead to a further decrease in viewers and by the end of 2013, Countdown will have been axed.

If it is, then it is a disgrace.

It's worse with the early start though. Next Friday Countdown is cancelled for the horse racing but the stupid celebrity quiz show taking its later slot is still on. (The celebrity quiz show is only 30m long but It's not clear that is the reason).

It would be nice if they cancelled the awful Deal or No Deal when they have horse racing - or they could show horse racing on one of the other channels they have.

Like Rachel's dress, but wouldn't have recognised Connie Fisher if you'd given me a million pounds.

Does anyone else think that whenever they get a half decent woman on the show they deliberately give them really poor male opposition to ensure they do well? The standard of contestants these last few weeks have been really really poor.

The dreadful Brandreth is back. He's evidently been warned off after his last appearance but he's still in Suzy's face far too much, e.g the moment when he announced his 8-letter word, leaning forward at her and shouting. It's embarrassing.

I've just contacted Countdown to tell them how great it is to have Gyles Brandreth back after such a long absence

Pity though that he and Suzie only managed seven in the first game of part two when "customers" was there for eight. Not that I am one to show off of course.

I was gutted on Thursday. One of my lesser life's goals nearly came true. I have nine letters in my name, all different, and one day I hope to see them be the ones chosen in a round of Countdown. It was only the last letter that let me down. So close.

I might add they weren't in the right order. That would be too freaky.

Yes. Poor Suzy - not taking any chances by the looks of things with the highest collared top she could find - even the chairs looked further apart. It wasn't long though before Giles was leaning in and leering again.

And certainly today`s outfit, the very very close-fitting purple number with the zipped black midriff thing made her look incredibly busty. But as this is still just about a family board I`d better stop there.
