I think it's nice when the loser get the conundrum, at the end. They get to leave on a high, sort of.

I still have great difficulties with Old Nick Hewer,he is
way too sour and schoolteacher-ish for my tastes! But
when did Allistair McGowan turn into Mike Yarwood?
By which I mean, when did he become an 'impressionist'
whose every impersonation sounds exactly alike, and
some of the people he 'does' I would not know anyway!!!

McGowan's impressions today were poor, agreed, although I think not enough people are familiar with Rafael Nadal to judge. Yesterdays were much better.

I wonder why they decided to interrupt the quarter finals and go with a special today.

Also, I note that they cut Arlene Phillips' DC segment (not that I'm complaining) and awarded the loser with a prize, with the winner getting nothing at all. I know it's just a fun game, but

Hmm, looks like there are two more specials on 22nd and 23rd.

They had to stick in a "filler" episode before the final which ensures that the final will be next Friday.

The two remaining quarter finals will be shown next Monday and Tuesday, with the two semis on Wednesday and Thursday, leaving the final to be shown on Friday.

Think Dan must have taken the comments from here on board, still wouldn't say he'll be popular, but definitely seems more natural compared to his regular run.

Did anyone see the editing mistake with the letters just when Nick started the first round?

Yes, very bizarre. Don't know what that was all about.

Don't think she's going to win but c'mon Antoinette!!!

He might be good at this, but Dan sure is an almighty expletive.

7 x 10 = 70 + 3 +4 = 77 x 10 = 770-2 = 768.

Me too, I was very pleased with myself! It did jump out a bit though.

I missed it today, I wanted the Irish Girl to beat him, did he win?

Yes. Unfortunately. To his credit he was a very good player though
and knew an admirable amount of obscure words to more or less guarantee the end result.

well he was called an "expletive". Is he supposed to just take it?

Well I had nothing against Dan but I was still rooting for Antoinette as she was my favourite contestant of the series by quite a way, and it would be nice to see a woman win it (the last female champion was in 1998!). She gave him a good game, too, though sadly it wasn't to be. Got rather excited when she took the lead

A really pleasant and enjoyable set of finals - any of the eight finalists would have made a fine champion.

Cheltenham Festival next week...Countdown is only on Monday.

What is the point of horse racing?

What's the point of watching a race that finished an hour ago? They could put Countdown on the 4+1 channel.

Though perhaps they deserve a break occasionally.

Thanks for the warning. I haven't watched Countdown for a couple of months and was thinking of starting again (because there's nothing much else on). It would be just my luck to start when they'd put the racing on!
