I've actually been in hospital for the past two days, so ended up watching Countdown. I like the show, but I am not a regular watcher.

That said, I am so glad I saw today's game. A tie until the Conundrum. Has that ever happened before?

Yes quite a few times though it is unusual. There have even been occasions when there is a tie after the conundrum and they have to have another one.

I think there was one episode where there were three conundrums, last year..as no one solved them, and they were tied.

Spoiler alert - it seems reports of the final are circulating widely online - one would have thought Channel 4 would have embargoed details being published before the transmission date?

I'm sure they would, but an embargo isn't a legally enforced thing. All it takes is for someone to tell someone else and the thing could spread like wildfire on the internet.

What a great Champions of Champions final we saw today There were some great words today and a couple of nine letter words and the standard was fantastic but have to say the kid who won was bit too cocky for my liking actually gesturing to crowd when he won and i wonder what his opponent must thinking Anyway this was a great final and now next week as the main competion starts to begin the next series And one more thing that girl yesterday was so smug and full of herself and actually moving her head when the music was playing and then doing the something with her hands at the end was really getting on my nerves and im glad she lost yesterday because him and her today would have been unbearable Right guys lets hope we have a great series starting next week

yes, I feel that that head bopping was potentially unfair on the other contestant, as it could distract them....and obviously it meant she had a nine letter word, or solved the maths. Annoying as well, obviously.

Hmmm ... I've also got a bit of a thing about Susie! There was one time a year or so ago when she'd obviously just had her done - it looked really nice - but in subsequent shows she reverted to the rather lank look that seems to be her preference. That said, I wouldn't want to pit my wits against her over the dinner table!
