How thick was Rachel (and the contestants) today?

Target: 132
Numbers: 25, 50, 2, 9, 6, 10

They both got 131: 2x50+25+6, both missing that 10-9 gives you the extra 1!

But so did Rachel! She ignored what they did and did it a complete different way.

This is why Carol was so much better, she reacted to what the contestants did.

Even I got the numbers today when the contestants kept missing by 1, and even Rachel was doing them the long way.

She wasn't thick she got all the numbers, just because she didn't do them the way you expected is hardly any indication. There were several ways of doing all the numbers games and she just picked one - the 276 total ((100-8)*3) was only done the long way because the DC guest did it, Rachel would never have done it that way herself.

Yes she is completely thick. How did she get that job? Fiz needs to take over with immediate effect.

OK, thick's the wrong word, but, like Nick Hewer, slow on the uptake when it comes to TV presenting. It wasn't a question of her not doing it the way I expected, it was that she didn't react to the way the contestants had done it, which Carol always did.

I think Rachel tries not to show up contestants sometimes, by showing them something simple they missed....

Thick is the wrong word but like you, I was surprised she didnt simply point out the obvious.

She always completes the calculations in alternative ways, not the most obvious.

I'm surprised anyone who's watched the series regularly didn't know that. It's nothing to do with her not knowing the easiest way.

Actually I did. I'm just disagreeing with you.

What she did was absolutely fine.

In which case you misunderstand the point being made..

All she had to do was complete what the contestant had started in order to get the number required. There was no need to do it another way.

No I understand the point you're trying to make.

I'm disagreeing with you that she needs to complete what the contestant started. Doing it another way is what she always does, it's well established.

Its not well established. She has pointed out in the past where a contestant could have got the correct answer.
But you are still missing the point. She didnt point out that he would have being correct if he had subtracted the 9from the 10.
Im thinking you didnt see it either

No, for the second time, I understand the point.

I disagree that she needed to continue and correct him.

Why do think she didnt point out to him that if he used the 2 remaining numbers, he would have been correct?
She has done in the past.

perhaps she didn't see it. She maybe had her head occupied with her solution, as she would be expected to solve it, if she can, which she did.....must be quite a pressure being on TV, don't you think?

Yes i do think I agree, perhaps her head was filled with her own solution.
But going back to the original point, she missed the obvious solution given what the contestant said.
Do you not think that odd?

She has done and she hasn't done. There's been countless times when contestants have got halfway there but lost their way, followed by no continuation from Rachel. Just like here.

This is one of the most pointless debates I've ever been involved in on here.

It's you who's continuing it! . And flogging a dead horse because of course she missed the obvious. Ironic that she said the contestants would be kicking themselves, I bet she was kicking herself when she watched it back.

Rachel's solutions are more elegant than the contestants, a lot of the time.

She didn't miss the obvious, she just chose to ignore it. I've seen her do the exact same thing before - instead of doing a solution very similar to a contestant's one, she does another simple solution from a different angle. Either way, it's a simple solution.

It's a complete non-issue.

I agree.

What are they trying to say; that Rachel isn't very good at arithmetic?

Of course she missed it! You're only trying to fool yourself, no-one else. And if it's a non issue why do you continue to debate it?
