Jeff has really grown on me, I love that he takes part and comes up with word suggestions from time to time.

Rachel's nice and seems to have settled well. I still think she's not solving the amount of numbers games she ought to be, but am happy to give her more time to see if she gets better.

Dictionary corner wise, Alistair Stewart should be banned. He never credits Susie with getting the long words, always saying 'we got' etc. And he's so bloody patronising.

Contestant wise, I cannot bear that Chris bloke. I say bloke, it took me a while to figure it out. I really thought that no contestant could possibly outsmug Kirk Bevans from the last series, but Chris can. He smirks/gives a smug smile when the other contestant has 6 letters for example, and Chris has 7. And he's another who comes up with poncey words rather than normal ones - e.g. why say 'rosacea' when 'corners' will do? He's hideous, and having fast forwarded much of the last 3 shows, not sure I can be bothered to watch again until he's gone. He really makes me want to barf.

[quote=Grand Dizzy;35114057]That’s not what happened at all. The producers made it clear that they wanted Carol to leave. Carol was told that if she wanted to continue, her fee would be cut by 90%. Carol left because she felt pressured to do so, not because of money. She has made statements to the effect that she would probably have done the show for free.

It's nice of you to stick up for Carol but I think her track record (doing adverts for dodgy loans she knew would get people into debt and advertising any old rubbish as long as the fee was right) suggest to me that she is very greedy. I think her decision to leave was entirely money-based.

Not missing Carol at all and Rachel is looking very very nice today!

But would you accept a 90% pay cut? I certainly wouldn't unless there was a certainty I wouldn't get another job.

I'll say. Her figure looked fantastic in that dress. Sher has an amazing backside.

I agree, he should go. Why does he have to shout all the time?

It seems quite obviously to me that he has facial ticks / twitches, which are probably a medical condition, and are quite involuntary. OK, so he's come up with some odd words, but I think it's harsh to say he's 'hideous', and perhaps a little more understanding of his medical condition might be in order?

I still think Rachel can be a bimbo at times.

I think we can predict the eventual winner in that long haired Goth fella.

I mean fergawdsake, should anyone but a front bottom Doctor really know how to spell Perineum ?

It's not a word a bloke uses every day.

Presumably he got so used to presenting Police, Camera, Action or whatever it was called, that he's been unable to switch his volume down ever since.

His smug, smirky smile after saying he's got a longer word than his opponent isn't a facial tick. I thought at first it might be, but it isn't. I don't give a toss that he has ticks, that's not why I think he's hideous.

Chris is on for a score of 142 here if he gets the numbers and conundrum.

I just don't find these one-sided games with contestants who've been eating dictionaries for breakfast very interesting. I'd rather watch games where the players are more evenly matched.

Totally agree with you Carman. Haven't bothered to watch the rest of this week while Chris is on, it's a bit pointless really.

Kate Humble in Dictionary Corner! It's like some wonderful dream.

And Rachel is wearing a silk nightie.

I think Chris is a great contestant, and cute with it. It's a shame he had to leave today.

I think all too often the non celebrities such as Carol end up taking over the show thinking they are so importent that they are the show and they end up ruining it.

A god games host is one that facilitates it and keeps it going but does not take the show over.

Did Chris win his 8th today?

I thought his smile when he got something right was borne more out of shyness - he certainly wasn't very vocal when asked questions.

I didn't take to the other contestant today. He never said please or thank you, and if he'd been any slower calling the letters, he'd have gone in reverse!

Was that also the first time (yesterday) that Geoff asked the audience if anyone got the conundrum? Haven't seen that happen for a while, and I'd quite like to see Geoff say Hello to the next day's contestant(s) like in Richard Whiteley's day.

The worst part of the show is the contestants.
They always think they are great.
Total nerds.

Yes he won his eigth so two new contestants tomorrow. He comes back for the finals though which I guess means he will be up against the chap from Warwick Uni.

Don't know why Rachel had to struggle with the first numbers game today (Thurs, 10th).

7 9 10 9 1 1 to make 588

Spoiler
9 x 9 = 81 x 7 = 568

1 + 1 = 2 x 10 = 20

568 + 20 = 588

and I still had time to twiddle my fingers before the 30 seconds was up.

Should have checked your maths instead of twiddling your fingers because 81 x 7 = 567 not 568

I did check. And checked again when I typed it.
Sorry Rachel.

I do hate the way people are so quick to criticise Rachel. I think she's done really well in a very short space of time. I am consistently impressed by her maths ability.
