I only just found out that Rachel has a degree in maths from Oxford University.

I never used to like her made-up words on Countdown either.

But I went to see part of next week's recording when she was the guest, and she wasn't bad, even though at first I dreaded the prospect of having to sit through her contribution without the convenience of a fast forward button.

Could have been worse though; who's the guy with the beard who used to write out anagrams on cards? Maybe that's where Brand got the idea.

To be fair I normally fast-forward through most Dictionary Corner guests, I only bother with comedians, or sometimes a bit of Richard Digance.

My Countdowns do tend to be quite a bit shorter than their 45-minute slot! But when faced, as now, with two weeks' worth to watch at once, with more being added from tomorrow Monday, that's understandable.

I like Jo Brand. I can tolerate most of them, even Brandreth (though I always feel sorry for poor Suzie when he's leching over her). The only one I really can't abide is Pam bloody Ayres.

Does anyone remember there once being a guest who really didn't look as if he wanted to be there at all as he looked bored throughout and didn't seem to be interested in what Suzie had to say. I can't remember who it was but I think it was during the first Jeff/Rachel series.
