I was 2nd row from the back, other than the board I had a near perfect view, but that didn't put me off. Although I learnt where they stuck the Conundrum board, I couldn't even see that! I managed to walk onto the floor when the recording ended for the day and the set is quite something, very blue and feels far smaller than what you see on TV.

And there was me convinced that The Young Ones had it spot on!

Is it just me, or do the new champion and the Dictionary guest look like clones?

She's all stripey today. Quite Summery.

They've just managed to side step an obvious 6 letter word starting with f and that rhymes with ducked

I thought they might've gone for that 6 letter word...just for the points. It is in the dictionary, after all

Well it beat their fives so I did better than them then

Rachel Riley should be made illegal - she's more addictive than coke.

Re- the word that they missed

all they had to do was say I've got a six but i can't say it at this time on national tv so is it ok if I demonstrate it on Rachel instead?

Charles is just making up letters! Lol, poor guy - he's having a few 'senior moments' today

They never used to pick the f c and k letters. I think this has always been avoided in the past. I bet the contestants saw it. Everyone else did!

On a related note, did anyone see Carole Vordeman on Question Time recently? Funniest thing I've seen in ages. She was like a scarey school-teacher with a dash of dominatrix.

My recollection (and I am 99% certain but could be wrong of course) is that there were 9 rounds altogether - 2 numbers games, one in each half, 6 letter games (3 in each half) and a conundrum - so it has always been biased towards wordy people against number people - don't worry we're used to it!!

I've read somewhere (no idea where, was a while ago), that if an offensive word is found then they'll play, use the score but film another round for TV where the contestants are given words of the same length to use as in the 'offensive round' to use to keep the points the same.

Didn't do that this time around then as the potentially offensive word scored 6 but only 5s were declared. But yeah I've read the same thing

The current champion and Dictionary corner guest look so alike that I keep expecting Harry Hill to come on and make it a trio!

I used to love watching countdown every afternoon, but completely lost interest after Richard Whitely passed away. For me it's just never been the same without him.

Pity the contestants missed the chance to be able to say 'I got f*cked on Countdown'.

I do love these embarrassing moments.

Yeah me too, I often look out for funny words on Countdown in the letters rounds. A few weeks ago the words DIC came out, setting the scene nicely for another letter to follow... which sadly didn't happen

I doubt they would do that now for integrity reasons.

Richard Whiteley did say that the producers use their judgment, and the worse case scenerio is they do the round again. It's completley fair because both conestants know they can not accpet offensive words as answers.

You should give it another chance, Jeff is pretty good, no Richard I grant ya but closest they have had , far better than Lynam or O'Connor. Oh and Rachel is quite easy on the eye.

Is it just me, or have the last few shows featured lots of pensioners as contestants?

I can understand their not allowing the F - word on Countdown, but was puzzled a few months ago, when a contestant came up with the word 'bastard' and they bleeped it out! It's not a swear word, just a perfectly legitimate word for the illegitimate.

I had to keep muting the sound today when that Welsh woman said "vowwwelllllll"
