I finally got a "numbers game" answer today. Not bad after twenty odd years of occasional viewing.

Though to be honest I'm far more interested in Rachel Riley. Terrible, tarty dress sense, big boobs, a nice bum, ridiculous hairstyle and rather ungainly. What a woman!

If you think about it, it's probably the right way to pronounce it. It is a two syllable word, after all! It's us that say it wrong, dropping the 'e'.

Expect the total opposite tomorrow! I was in the recording for yesterdays/today's/tomorrow's episode, the contestants usually sit in the audience when it isn't their episode.

True, like a lot of regional accents I would say. My missus is form North East and I am Kent, i always take the mick out of her saying things like "booooook" and "fil-em" but i agree it's the right pronounciation of these words whem u think about it.

Well done Jeff, Rachel and the team. Particularly Rachel.

Great that they've ignored the crap, kept their heads down and turned it around. And good on Channel 4 for sticking with it.

Yay! Well done to all concerned. The article is spot on. After the horror of the two Deses, it's now great viewing again.

Great to hear about the new deal. Nice show today, not an OTT celebration. The guy who is champion at the moment seems a decent bloke.

Also, thanks to all on this thread who responded to me about getting tickets for the show.

Susie, and Rachel both made an effort and scrubbed up well for the special show, but I thought Des Lynham looked a right scruff.

Yes he had an air of 'Mad Scientist' about him. Jeff looked very dapper in comparison. Liked the conundrum though.

Haven't seen it for ages, but sounds better now! Couldn't stand it when Dessie was on though. However good it is now, no-one could be as good as Richard W, bless him!! I'll try and have a look next week

Give me the Welsh accent over Cockney any time!!

Mind you I must admit to a certain bias as altho I am not Welsh myself I have lived in Wales for the past 20+ years.

Tbh where I live in North Wales I'd never hear people talking like that but on local TV or if the odd South Walian moved to our area I might do.

Good to know the show's carrying on.

Went to a morning recording session last week, and the audience seats were half-empty.

So talk a few more people into going too. (And I think the finals will be recorded around the end of April.)

I'm thrilled for Jeff and Rachel. There's such a feel good atmosphere now, you can just tell Jeff loves it! I was an early, Richard days watcher and didn't hold out much hope, after the Des squared disasters, but Jeff and Rachel turned it all around and as long as you watch it with fresh eyes, (and loving Countdown itself helps) it's a great little show.

This is my favourite Countdown team by far. Loving Jeff and Rachel.

While Jeff, Suzie and Rachel are a great team, the format desperately needs re-booting.

I know the Scrabble people are extremely litigious, but something along those lines would be good, where a 6 letter word using Ks, Js and Zs would beat an 8 letter word.

......and please C4, NEVER invite Des Lynam back, he's become very dreary and morose since he left the Beeb ( that'll bloody teach him ).

Could happen Richard - they shook things up with the numbers game during one of the specials, and everyone seemed to enjoy that. It also gave Rachel a chance to be more hands on (!) (steady lads) and we saw some personality.

Goodness me you and others having a go at Des sound rather miserable.

Personally I loved having Des back on - the man is a broadcasting legend and it does not matter to me whether he wears a tie or not or whatever obscure point you and others who have had a go at him are trying to make.

I love Countdown - always have and always will and Jeff and Rachel are excellent imo - one minor criticism I would make tho is that during their tenure some of the Dictionary Corner guests have been a bit 'scrapping the bottom of the barrel' ish. For that reason I would love to have Des in DC as he would have so many interesting anecdotes - I wouild love him to do it again - and in fact to come back regularly.

I also would love Tom O'Connor to come back as he was one of the best DC guests - it was nice to see Pam Ayres another good one the other week.

However as I said a few pages back when i first posted about the prog - the attraction of Countdown for me is the game and the contestants and not the presenters or the DC guests. Lets never forget that.

I agree that some of the Dictionary Corner guests have been a disappointment under the current regime. What has happened to the highly entertainung Geoffrey Durham ? It must be three or four years since his last appearance, yet he used to appear three or four times a year!

Also, have you noticed that those who voiced criticism at the treatment of Carol Vorderman haven't been asked back?

But still as you say it was a great night out. I do not manage to watch this very often, but wish I could... Well done on your night out.

The new girl who took over from Carol has an outstanding figure. This alone must make watching compulsive for those who are home at this time of day?

Who was the guest in DC?

And what did Rachel wear?
