I think most of us will probably agree that one thing definitely in Jeff's favour is that he doesn't say 'okey doke' at the end of every round!

And she hasn't worn stilettos for a while either (which is a shame in my opinion!)
Still, I suppose Countdown's erratic wardrobe control is part of its charm. |

Jeff - I am possessed by Richard Whiteley
- fits in perfectly. He is exactly the right kind of presenter for Countdown with good nature, a sharp wit and a corny line in puns. It should keep the show going for some years after it looked in danger of fizzling out. No doubt he is on a fraction of the salary that Des O'Connor required. But at least he has his day job at Sky. And, yes, you can see he is enjoying himself and wants to be there. That is half the challenge. |

Stelling is the most sought after presenter at the moment. He will be getting huge wages. He is the best,so deserves it.

This week has been great entertainment (Peter his opponent yesterday was funny, when he said he had a ten). If there's a nine there, no matter how obscure, he'll find it. Is 130 one of the highest ever scores?

Love the Kirkulator - as his students call him!

EDIT: List of highest scores as at 18 Jan 2009 http://www.thecountdownpage.com/hiscores.htm FURTHER EDIT: - After reading the 'highest scores' page. I think Jeff probably meant that 127 was the highest score this series. Still a bit though

I missed yesterday (Thursday)'s show, which is when I presumed Kirk scored 130. If so, then yes, it is definitely the highest score in an ordinary game as he got 127 earlier in the week which was also a record.

Really enjoyed this week's episodes of Countdown as they've got a high scoring champion (even though he has been on the show before- who else are they gonna have back?!) and my favourite Dictionary Corner guest in Dr Phil Hammond

Countdown has not been this good since the late Richard Whitley presented the show. I liked Des Lynam, but Des O'Connor was just bloody awful!

I didn't realise he had been on before (when was it?) but I agree that this week's shows have been brilliant. I'd hate to go through all the auditions and get onto the show just to come up against the Kirkulater! ![]() Quote:
He never goes for the obvious words when there's a "dictionary" word available, does he?
Susie Dent even had to apologise to him after saying a word wasn't in the dictionary and then after the next round she had found it! I've never seen that before. |

I like Jeff Stelling - very natural and engaging. Still can't get used to Rachel - she seems really nice. There's just something... |

Personally I think they should just not bother with the rest of the series and give him the trophy now!
![]() I got the feeling he lost interest after about two rounds.

Can't believe Kirk didn't get one of the numbers games today. (And no, I didn't either, but I'm nowhere near his ability.
) Nor that he didn't get
Spoiler

He's a smug, bigheaded PAIN IN THE BACKSIDE (there's a 4 letter word for it but swearing is not allowed) I hope he loses to wipe that smug smile of his face. |
