All I know is, Rachel's bum times Rachel's legs times Rachel's boobs times Rachel's smile = heaven.

Re the 'times' question: when Rachel started Countdown, the 'times by' issue soon arose. Susie dealt with the query one day on the show and basically said that this usage was legitimate. However, I share my dislike of it being used in this way with the others who do so. My main gripe is that it just sounds, at worst, 'wrong' or, at the very least, extremely clumsy. Saying the traditional 'Three times ten', for example, sounds so much better than 'Three times by ten' for the following reason: in 'Three times ten', the times can be substituted by 'multiplied by'; if you substitued this for the new expression there's an extra 'by',

Anyway, I agree that Rachel does have a nice bum. I just wish she would stop ruining her hair on a regular basis... and saying someone is 'brilliant' at the nunbers even if they haven't done the sum brilliantly...

I am Head of Maths at a not very academic school and so my whole working life is spent trying to make Maths accessible to lower ability children, trying not to confuse them about it and generally making them hate it just a little bit less!!

Therefore when I can use a simpler word or just plain not use a long 'mathematical jargon' type word I do ALWAYS. So

multiply = times
subtract = take away
quotient = what the divide sum makes
alternative angles = Z angles
corresponding angles = F angles
vertically opposite angles = X angles
factorise = put brackets in
evaluate = work out
Pythagoras' theorem = Pythagoras' rule

All Maths questions are sums and I'd never use words like quadratic and other such words if I can help it.

And so on. Get the picture!! - I see no point in using long words when shorter ones will do.

I think that is what Rachel is trying to do = make Maths more accessible to ordinary people by not over complicating it with long words and good on her for that i say.

Typical mathematician.

Reductionist - taking things back to first principles.

I approve. Next you'll be calling a spade a spade.

If Rachel Riley in a short tight dress equals people of all ages getting interested in brain workouts involving letters and maths, then everyone's a winner (to coin a cliche).

If rachel riley's skirt get any tighter it wont be just the brains that will get a workout, lol!.

Yep Guilty here!

Some times I can get three letter words, depends on what Rachel is wearing!

There is a shorter one, unfortunately the tape was destroyed when the male producers couldn't stop watching the recording. I'm told the top was so low cut you could nearly see her nipples, and the skirt so short it barely covered her ass.

Oh, and she wore a pair of **** me stiletto heels too.

Well you can't blame a guy for fantasising can you?

Todays early morning repeat.

Rachel wore a short, flared skirt, not a tight one. It was a green leopardskin pattern.

She looked fabulous.

Well now - I thought yesterday's challenger, Jude, made Rachel look positively ordinary. I didn't expect that!

I surprised myself too and found the nine letter word almost immediately because for once, it 'looked' like the word and it surprised me how long it took for the contestant to find it!

what on earth is a Z,F and X angle
(I think I understand now, thinking about it again!)

and surely everyone knows Pythagoras is a theorem, not a Rule.

Speaking of which, why not get your kids to do a homework, examining the different proofs of this, and saying which one they like best.

Personally, I like James Garfield's - interesting that he became President of the US.

They appeared to have run out of spray-on dress again, on this mornings early repeat.

Black, with a gold detail on the front top half.
Tight, very tight.
Short, very short. In fact it just managed to cover her arse cheeks. Just.
