I thought that yesterday's outfit was one of the best yet!
Also, I have nothing against trousers, in which she looks quite becoming. It's those awful short skirts that I don't like - they make her look top-heavy. The girl is twenty-five, for goodness sake, she shouldn't still be dressing as an adolescent!

So only adolescents can wear short skirts?

Twenty-five, my god that's ancient, oh well it's the crimplene slacks and woolly cardigans for her from now on then.

Countdown is so much better these days without Carole Vorderman. Rachel is just as clever at the numbers as Carole was and is a really nice person. I love Geoff Spelling too, he has got a fab personality. So the show lives on without the originals!

I liked Carol Vorderman, and I like Rachel Riley. Is this a problem? Am I unique?

By the way, the man with the fab personality is Jeff Stelling.

And it's Carol not Carole (not aimed at you).

I'm not sure. I think it's a question of wanting to see. Still, there or not, it was fun looking.

BTW, Rachel aside, what a game today! 95 each going into the conundrum, neither got it, so it went to a second one.

The late great Richard Whitely oozed personality, charm and wit. Something that Jeff Stelling tries at and fails. At least we still have Suzie from the originals

Your mum should be happy today as Rachel's looking summery in a pretty shift dress with big pink roses all over it... knee length too!!!

Sorry to drag the thread away from the subject of Rachel, people ... but did anybody see yesterday's episode, specifically Jeff's opening monologue?

Just caught up with it on 4OD. He started off by saying he hears a lot from people who can't get to see Countdown live as it goes out, and at first you think he's about to do a little plug for the 4OD service... Well, no sirree - he then embarks upon a glowing paean to the versatility of Sky +, specifically name-checked - albeit as a lead-in to a gag, but then when he chats to Rachel he asks what shows she likes to put on series link, and she mentions Grey's Anatomy, The Good Wife and (most blatant of all) "the new Sky Atlantic HD channel"!

Blimey - does anybody know if this was arranged under this new OFCOM product placement thing? I can only hope that it was, ie. that Sky paid for it, because if they didn't then they got a big fat chunk of free publicity...

Thing is though - I didn't see that "P" logo come up over the credits...is that where it's supposed to go for shows with product placement? Or maybe it comes up over the C4 ident before the programme; I'm not quite sure, I'd have to look it up. Obviously with me watching on 4OD there wasn't an actual proper ident as such, just the standard 4OD logo you get before all the programmes.

Anyway I'd certainly be interested to know the background... it was a bit odd to say the least, if it wasn't an "official" product placement deal...

I think Jeff is a good egg, and doesn't mind being teased.

It must be tedious to do 4 shows a day, yet Jeff manages not to look bored, unlike the two Des's of old.

Thank God for that reliable Doctor bloke in DC some guests are really disappointing Jeff needs someone to wisecrack with like John Parrott , Carol Smillie recently was as dull as dirt.

Unfortunately, for Jeff to have banter and wisecracks with a guest, that normally means they have to be a football bore.
I like Jeff but unless a guest is a sportsperson his interaction with them is usually quite dull.

I think we need a new Countdown thread as not everyone thinks it's "so much better these days"

For you Rachel fans... she's looking gorgeous today in a lovely dress!

Meant to say yesterday that Rachel's pretty good on the maths these days!
