I just like looking at Rachel Riley. I'm a man of simple pleasures.

10 * 10 = 100

9 * 2 = 18, add 25 = 43

Add them together, 143.

I don't understand why they made the final numbers round so hard for themselves.

Let's get back to guests that can actually speak for themselves.

I think that Jeff Stelling has changed the whole character of the show for the worse. The contestants are usually described by their sporting interests these days. If they have no interest in sport then Jeff seems to be at a loss. There are more sports people as guests these days rather than " writers, poets and intelligent people". These "superstars" are interviewed about their amazing feats, whereas in previous years guests would have actually taken the time to prepare an amusing piece aimed at people interested in words and language and literature (which is what the show is about after all).
Jeff Stelling is by far the worst of the Countdown hosts.
As far as Rachel is concerned, she is certainly a good looker, but did someone actually say that she is intelligent ?
When has she ever, ever shown any knowledge whatsoever of any books, literature or of any popular music prior to 1980 ? Heck she barely knew the name of any of the Rolling Stones songs when they were discussed a few days ago.

According to Rachel Riley's Twitter yesterday apparently there's only more filming block with Jeff to go now, so one would assume they're filming the episodes up to Christmas now.

Well, I'm glad it'll be a different host when I finally get around to doing my (hopefully successful but probably not) stint on the show. While I enjoy watching/listening to some sports, I am not a sporty person nor do I take a great deal of interest in any particular one. Jeff made the right decision to stick to his sports presenting as that is where is passion and knowledge are firmly entrenched! I hope the new host will be somewhat more broadminded about contestants' interests and special guests anecdotes.

I know many people on this thread continually comment on how gorgeous the lovely Rachel is, but I would very much like to say how attractive Susie Dent was on today's show.

I like Susie a lot, Suzie is very intelligent, sadly she is quite obviously not allowed the same access to the wardrobe that Rachel enjoys.

Bless Suzy, and yes she is cute, but she doesn't have (or deosn't appear to have) a body as amazing as Rachel's.

Unlike Rachel, Suzi's bod is a bit older AND has gone through the rigours of child bearing, although I've never seen her standing up, I suspect she's kept her slim and willowy figure.

Just because someone has gone through childbirth does not stop them from being attractive. To be honest, I would take intelligence over a perfect body any day! I much prefer to see how attractive people are underneath the outer layer.

Bear in mind that Susie spends most of her time hiding behind the desk so we very rarely get to see the whole image. Rachel is undenyably stunning but lacks some very basic levels of understanding. She is a whiz at the numbers which is great, but Susie has a much better overall intelligence and therefore wins it for me!

This is the only pic I could find of Susie standing up! Very attractive she is too!

Susie is always seen standing up at the end of a series, when the winner is presented with his or her prize, and everyone gathers round. This scenario often provides surprises when you discover how tall or short the final contestants are!

Susie is quite attractive in person as well, very tall and slender. She rocks those jeans as well. It's a shame she seems to have a much limited wardrobe when compared to Rachel and we see her behind the desk for the most part. That said, some of the tops she wears are hideous.

There used to be some other girls and men doing Suzies job, they used to take it in turns. Whatever happened to them? and does Suzie still work for the O.E.D. or is this her full time job.?

I think she left them but this from Wikipedie may help

Susie Dent (born in Woking, Surrey) is an English lexicographer, well known as the resident dictionary expert and adjudicator on Channel 4’s long-running game show Countdown. As of January 2009, she is the longest-serving member of the current on-screen team, having first appeared on the show in 1992.

Dent was educated at the Marist Convent in Ascot.[2] She went on to study Modern Languages at Somerville College, Oxford and German at Princeton University, New Jersey, after which she worked as a language teacher in the United States and for a German publisher before going to work for the Oxford University Press (OUP). She now works as a writer and contributor to discussions of language issues and words in the news: the Language Corner column in the UK MSN Encarta online encyclopedia site is one of these.[3]

Just before Jeff and Rachel took over Countdown there was a tribute programme to Carole V. and Suzy wore a short skirt and a fairly revealing top. She looked stunning. She does not seem to be too bothyered what she wears now. Pity as she still is an attractive lady

Jeff Stelling is the best host since Richard Whiteley. The worst part of the show usually is the boring anecdotes or prepared pieces before the break by TV fossils. Guys like Paul Zenon or Tim Vine make it more upbeat and bearable. As for Rachel you could probably say the same about Jeff or Suzie not knowing about modern bands. She does timetables to music and looks good, which is all I ask.

Agreed, if anything I prefer his presentation to Richard's but Richard of course will always be held in special affection.

Yes the worst are boring old fart actors (Keith Barron and Philip Franks especially) or those I've never heard of that are famous for being on soaps.

Countdown time once more

Hope the challenger wins today, I don't know why, I don't like the current champion.
