It's not specified in ODE so it's not permissible. I doubt it's in any dictionary.

Rachel looking very blue today..can I find out where she gets her dresses from?
According to a Daily Mail article, I would post a link but don't know how, she goes shopping about twice a year with her stylist on Regent Street with her clothing allowance. She goes to House of Fraser, Reiss, LK Bennett and Whistles. She says after a while she either gives them to friends or gives them to dementia charity A Peaceful Place who sell them on Ebay

There's all sorts of crap on the internet. You won't find 'orangiest' in any recognised academic source. And for Countdown purposes it would need to be specified in the Oxford Dictionary of English, which it isn't.

That was an interesting story told by Ann Widdecombe, The one about the lady with the children, the cat and the landlord.

Having thought about it I agree, the most obvious superlative would be "most orange" - I got a biit excited thinking I'd got a niner!!

Edit \i'm watching this on +1 and got otherwise Yippee!!

Why was underlap rejected as a word today if you can overlap something surely you can underlap it as well

Well, it's true the word exists but once again as it's not in the Oxford Dictionary of English it's not permitted on Countdown.

The superlative of what you suggested would be "most orangey"
which seems a rather unlikely concept.

If someone were striving to describe a sunset maybe, even if it wasn't actually possible for it to be the most orange(y) they had witnessed?

Yes it's alright for these people who do jobs they either enjoy or has prospects but if you were on a supermarket till you might think differently.

You can see it here: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/underlap?r=66

But only the Oxford Dictionary of English matters for Countdown purposes.

Nick's "Work your hours" anti-rant is only justified in a world where bosses are fair ... which in all likelihood IS his world but the reality for a lot of workers is much worse.
It's just a difficult subject.

I'm really enjoying Nick tonight on Room 101 and Carol Vorderman has put some things into Room 101 that I go along with, especially huge 'designer' handbags.... and what do these skinny models and footballers' wives put in them, especially when going out for lunch or to a restaurant?!!!

GTHMEAOEP today - I suppose "homepage" isn't in their dictionary as one word even though it gets over 2 million hits on Google.

Anyone know what the highest losing score is? 93 must be close.

What about where three or more TOWIE-types are gathered together? Wouldn't the word be necessary then?

i still miss Jeff and Nick does irritate at times (the "work your hours day"rant springs to mind) but he's beginning to settle in quite well.

He does have some interesting anecdotes and clearly loves words - the way he salivates at Susie and the "Origin of Words" section.

Better than both Des' but not a patch on Jeff imo. Of course I'm not comparing anyone to Richard.

Nick seemed quite shocked when she asked him whether women fans threw their knickers at him

So is Nick Hewer now to be known as Hugh Knickers?

You're out of luck, she doesn't usually wear any.
