Remote control help - BN5900463

Hi

I have a samsung LE26R51BD and the remote control that matches it BN59-00463. Worked fine since I bought it in 2007 but for whatever reason, even though when I press the buttons on the remote, the TV will flash red as usual(i.e. the light signifying it is picking up the remote) but nothing actually happens?

The only buttons that now work are the volume buttons and the mute button.

I'm not sure why this has happened... especially when it appears that the TV is picking up the remote fine?

Appreciate any help

You've obviously checked the batteries, right?

Next thing; does the remote operate other gear? Is it in "work a DVD player" mode or something similar?

Hi

Yep changed them twice now just to double check!

Nope it doesn't work on anything else. It's still doing the same thing - flashing red, so it's picking up the signal... but nothing happens?

Any other ideas?

I can get a replacement remote for 12 quid, but I'm not sure that will even work if the current TV is picking up the remote - it's just not coming up with the end product?

Have you tried the Reset button under the flap?

Also, if you have or can borrow a Sky remote you could program that to control the TV. Then at least you would know if it's a TV or a remote problem.

Hi

Sorry...can't see any reset button under the flap??

We've had sky for ages, and yep the sky remote works fine as normal (controlling the TV) so I guess it is the TV remote then?

Thanks again

That's because it isn't there...it's at the bottom of the front of the remote.
Look at page 10 of your user manual.

Hi

Must have a different manual I think - page 10 on mine just talks about the teletext controls. There is no 'reset' button.

Thanks for all the help - looks like I will just have to get a new remote and hope it works!

Look for a small recessed pinhole near the bottom wih reset printed next to it.

Hi

Thanks for the help - but honestly there's no pinhole on the entire remote!

Hi Coxy,

Not sure if you've solved this issue you have yet.

If not, then give this a try because it's just solved the same issue for me that you have/had.

Step 1: Remove the batteries

Step 2: Press the power button (red button) on the remote control 5 times.

Step 3: Replace the batteries and your remote should work fine.

This advice was received from a person called Seedy on AV Forums and saved me £12!

Hi - I found this thread via Google as I was having identical problems with my remote.

Very pleased to report that the fix posted above worked a treat for me as well. Thank you!
