Help needed
![]() First time here, and I'm asking for help. I have a Humax HDR, v happy so far. However, last few days quality of signal has gone to 0 on most channels. Some, e.g. BBC1, BBC-HD and others further down the list have a perfect picture. ITV1 is pixellated, others, like BBC2, ITV4 have no picture at all. Being new to all this, I can't understand how some channels can have a perfect picture, even HD, and some not at all. I'd appreciate an explanation, and, better still, some suggestions as to what I can do about it. Thanks for reading. I'm sure there will be more to follow. Jim. |

Hi Jim,
We have all been there at some time! You dont say where you are or if it is a new installation with the new HDR. But different places take different BBCs & ITVs according to postcode. Some come from different transponders & wouldnt all fail at same time. If you have had strong wind in the last few days it could have swung the dish. If you can reach it without becoming an accident statistic, then try this. Check if the dish is loose sideways or up & down If not then get someone to watch the signal bars on a channel that has signals between 50 &100%. Flex the dish by pulling by just 2 or 3 mm at one side & opposite at other side. hold flexed for 20 or 30 seconds. The changed signal takes a little time to register. If it gets better signals you have an answer If it gets worse then flex it the opposite way & hold for 20 or 30 sec. Again if it gets no better, try flexing up & down in the same way. If no better the answer lies elsewhere. While with the dish check that the cable connectors have been waterproofed by either a rubber/plastic boot or wrapped with self amalgamating tape. If not or if the dish was not rigidly fixed I would get the installer to finish the job he was paid for. Write back to say how this worked out. |
