Bought my 42WLT66 back in mid 2006 & it has now developed the dreaded vertical "shadow" line down the centre of the screen. I appreciate that this is a well known issue / & that there are various historical threads - but has anyone had recent experience of the usual warranty procedure?

Mine is still covered via CostCo guarantee - but does the repair procedure tend to be a long drawn out process - or is it effectively not worth their while / cost replacing the parts & (as I have seen on other threads) Toshiba tend to just issue a refund voucher to the purchase price level?

Comments gratefully received.

I suspect as it needs a new expensive LCD panel that you will be offered a refund.

Well - thats what I guess - but I'd be interested to know long the whole refund procedure takes / & whether anyone else has been round this loop.

As you're covered by the CostCo guarantee, it's them you should be contacting - it's not your job to try and save them money.

Thanks Nigel - I appreciate that - but I was just wondering if anyone else has called on the costco warranty for TVs & whether it is fairly straightforward, or takes absolutely ages (i.e. they need to try all avenues to repair a non-repairable fault first).

No idea about CostCo, but there's no reason for it to take ages, if the panel is faulty as suggested it should only take minutes to confirm it. Then the repairer would have to seek authorisation for replacing the panel - which is more common than just replacing the set - so it depends how fast the insurers respond, and what they say.
