Not their best material yet......but strong.
Stronger than they've been for a long time.
I really like their new stuff.
I like both of their new singles from the album, although 'Omen' even if I do like it very much, seems to be a bit too mainstream sounding for my tastes compared to their very best stuff. Sometimes they go a bit like that when they try to do the rock 'singy' thing.
Funnily enough I think they tend to capture the energy of rock when they're less rocky if you know what I mean.
I'd say that their new stuff sounds more oldschool than they have done for a very long time. It sounds very much somewhere between the 'Experience' album and the 'Music for a Jilted Generation' album.
Personally I think they lost a bit of something for 'Fat of the Land' which although very succesful commercially, for me had lost its edge compared to their previous two albums. It just felt a bit too clean and mainstream for me, although it did have some great songs on it such as Narayan.
I think that The Prodge are at their best with music around the 'Experience' era.
My favourite ever song by The Prodigy is quite possibly 'Weather Experience', although they have some very good ones to choose from.
I also think songs such as 'Full Throttle' and 'Rhythm of Life' are really good examples of the essence of The Prodigy when they're at their Prodigy best.
But I really do like their new stuff. A step in the right direction from the two singles I've heard.
I expect their new album will probably do very well.
Their new stuff has a clarity and energy which isn't as muddy as some of their stuff has been since 'Fat of the Land'.
So not their best material yet, but still good.
The more they feel a bit like their Oldschool Hardcore flavour felt like the more they deliver (For me), and I think the new stuff, from what bits I've heard, is leaning more towards that. Which is a good thing.
