Not totally surprising - same issue as in the motor industry, namely massive overcapacity driving down costs.

Also for Pioneer it wasn't a 'core' product range for their strategy.

Agree with the comments of another poster - who next ?

At the risk of engaging in another rather boring LCD vs plasma contest, there is no evidence at all that it is as you state, especially as plasmas are well-served by other large brand manufacturers.

And in truth, there is room for BOTH technologies in the market, regardless as to what preferences people have.

I don't know about 'no evidence', manufacturers have been dropping Plasma over tha last few years, and it shows no sign of stopping - there are only a few left now.

As I see it Plasma sets probably cost MORE to manufacture than LCD, yet Plasma sets sell for LESS than LCD sets - the maths is pretty simple, how long are manufacturers going to subsidise Plasma sets?.

I gather that you are connected with retail, so I will need to take your word for that, however it was not my experience when I was looking around for a plasma in the weeks before Christmas (certain massive discounts on a couple of sets from a number of online retailers excepted though).
