Hi davidhpar press the menu button and scroll down to the icon that looks like a sat dish (set up) and then across to manual tune and press ok this will set the box to scan for non-freesat channels. Once you've saved the scan you need to back up or exit and return to the settings menu. At the bottom of this menu will show the stb mode select this to switch between freesat and non-freesat mode. But as you may already know any scanning or editing of non-freesat channels will erase your schedule of recordings (but not the recordings already made). No it doesn't change the channels in freesat mode

just a thought i take it when you say you loose all timed recording settings that you can reset series link afterwards and all will be the same.also what other channels might you expect to receive in non feesat mode.??

You can get these channels in non Freesat mode David.

yes it's just a case of going back to the epg and re-entering the schedule and selecting the series link option. Any programmes that have been previously recorded under series link will be placed in a folder in the media screen, and the subsequent recordings will make their way there too so yes all will be the same.

just re-read your post its not recording settings you loose it's the schedule of recordings, they need to be re-entered
Some advise please, I did a non freesat scan to get Luxe HD and was in a lot of trouble from the wife as I had wiped all of her scheduled timers, now would I right in thinking that I can now re-enter non freesat mode to watch Luxe without losing the timers again? as I'm not that brave to risk wiping them again.

Yes you can now go into non freesat mode without deleting the schedules but make sure no recordings as scheduled at the time you are going to watch anything in non freesat mode.

If the start of the recording is more than 15mins after entering non freesat mode, then the foxsat will warn you and change back to freesat mode to make the recording when the recording starts. Same thing happens if you switch off in non freesat mode. If a recording has been made next time you switch on you will be back in freesat mode

If it's a recording set using the Freesat EPG, then I think so, yes.
You can record channels in non-Freesat mode though, this is just for timers set for programmes on later made via the EPG.
A rather stupid flaw on these STB's, which along with a number of other features, or lack thereof, is why I'm holding off on buying one. Hopefully things will improve in the future...

. A non-freesat recording is terminated by default 15 mins before a freesat recording is due to start and the stb auto switches to freesat mode.

Aha! Well it could be a conflict between my Toshiba and the Humax but there is an unacceptable delay in the proceedings if I change channel from say ITV4 to BBC HD and the Humax is set to "Original". This is a trick I learned the hard way with my poxy Pace. For my set-up at least it is best to use 1080i as default and use "Orginal" as and when required.
I just wish it was possible to toggle between "Original" and 1080i rather than having to go through all the other options. I wonder if anybody actually uses those?

I just tested both on mine, and just get the normal very slight delay, if you could call it that, in both v-formats.
