Started what? No one complained about your mentioning electricity.

Minimal or not, they will still be greater than the interest you would make.

As already pointed out, your figures are nonsensical.

Even if correct, with the current parlous state of interest rates, you would nowhere near cover your increased energy costs with interest paid by sticking with Sky.
Go easy... I was just saying... to the OP that it's either £300 now or £10 / month for 'basically' the same thing... recording HD.

That was it.... I just thought it was silly to go down interest rates/electricity costs route when factoring in the costs.... (note the smilies ?)

I'm not particularly a Sky fan, an as I said originally, I wanted/want to get a Humax box, but am still having trouble getting one, so I may as well wait and see what happens in the market.

Sorry, it's just that once I see interesting comparative figures I can't help giving the calculator a bit of a hammering - sad, eh?

Yup Me too !

As I was working it out I was actually surprised at how little the Sky+ box used over a year... I assumed it would be much more than that... especially with the heat it seems to generate.

Unless I've **completly** messed the calculations up...

Which means if you are needing an HD PVR for more than 2.5 years, get an HDR, if its short term, stick with Sky.

eg 5 years use of sky = £600, x (at least 5 with a guarantee) years use of HDR until it breaks or gets replaced= £300.
