What's the best Picture settings for HD??
Hi,
Does anyone have a website that can tell me what the best settings for brightness, colour, contrast etc are? I have an HDready Samsung 26inch screen set to 1080p and a Grundig HD freesat box, connected by HDMI cable. Picture in HD is good, but sometimes it's only slightly better than I would have expected. Nature docs look great, but drama is only slightly better than standard. Thanks for any help. |

You might find setting to 720p is better on a HD ready set- depends on the scaling tech.
Settings will vary widely depending on the make and model no. of your TV so posting settings here is pointless unless you give your TV's model number and people might help you out. Also try the LCD section of AVFourums .com they have dedicated sections for TV makes and models. Although I have Plasma now my old Samsung was best with contrast max and brightness at about 60% |

at 26 inches you will be hard pushed to notice much unless you are practically sitting on top of it!!

BBC HD channel have a HD test card running throughout the hours it doesn't broadcast scheduled programming, it's on a 90min loop. It takes a bit of guessing when it's on but if you are lucky enough to record it, it will help you set the TV up for HD viewing.
Other than this there are dedicated HD calibration DVD's available if you have access to a HD DVD/Bluray player, using this you will be able to calibrate the HDMI input - they go into more detail and cost around £10-£15. Bluray version... http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/3...asics++Blu-Ray http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&k...l_8buman5plh_e Not a fan of passing on user settings as they will not look the same due to different room/viewing conditions, and they won't be personal, much better to set it up from source IMO. |

Hi,
Does anyone have a website that can tell me what the best settings for brightness, colour, contrast etc are? 22 -4 .......I.... ..I......... Super-duper mega ON Yes Yes No Always Never Rubbish Picture Mode OFF (important one, that )I've as much chance of making a good picture on your TV with that load of bollixs above as you have using someone else's TV settings. It just don't work like that. Honestly, using someone else's settings is as much use as sitting in a restaurant and asking a complete stranger to order your meal for you. You've spent a decent amount of money on your TV. Spend £20 extra and get a decent set up disc to finish the job properly. Digital Video Essentials (A.K.A. PAL DVE)

As far as I know there is only Freesat HD recorder (PVR) and that's the Humax. |

He can only record it in SD though surely which kinda defeats the point.
