Totally agree, but Zoe makes up for them. BTW I know she is not technically a daughter.

I wonder if Cathy has a knitted jumper stall in South Africa now - they were great! |

I think all those black cab drivers out there might be a little insulted by that comment. Anyway, isn't 65 the retirement age? I don't think he's supposed to be that old. It's their lives. Not there lives. Little Mo moved out to live with a wife beater. Belinda lives with her rich husband, Kat was abused as a youngster and therefore, until now, unable to commit and move out. Zoe lives with Kelly, not with her dad. There is another thread about how it is too expensive for young people to get a place of their own these days. Far from being "a pathetic bunch" living with their parents when they are 30+ It is fast becoming the norm, not the exception. If you really want to get worked up, what about the grandmother? With her dealing in stolen goods and attempts to con the system she presents a wonderful example doesn't she? |

Sorry to tell you this, but they're not real!!
The expanding house with its ever increasing number of bedrooms and total lack of fire damage is a dramatic device. The fact that they aren't all lawyers, city traders and accountants is what makes them interesting and cool. What I don't understand is the warped snobbery that can lead someone to criticise fictional characters for their lack of wealth. "i'm better than the slaters" - So what? |

It's all a Government plot to make us feel good. Portray a load of losers who have nothing but grief in their lives - that will make Mr & Mrs Average feel good about himself and his/her lot in life

Its bizarre the way they portray people struggling financially living in houses worth approaching 500K, or paying rents in excess of a bag of sand a month.

IAlso I know loads of black cabbies and a lot of them go into it later in life ie in their 40's and 50's. and work until they're well into their 60's. Its a very wellpaid job and not exactly exhausting. I do agree about the jobs though but then thats something thats always unrealistic in soaps. In real life a very large % of us in London commute into the city and west end for work. The only person I know who works local is my mate who owns the local pub. |

LOLWell said. I take the Mickey out of EE etc as well, but at least I am able to differentiate between Soapland and reality. Thing's like the background mechanics of the characters lives don't bother me much, it's the tired scriptwriters who produce cruddy storylines that wind me up.... |

Watching a bunch of dim witted dreary gits who live in a dreary cobbled street behind Granada TV makes you feel like you are a high flyer. |
