Top 25 appreciation threads.

-Not easy, since the forum administrators have split some of them into hundreds of pieces.

a) Joint threads are divided evenly between the people concerned.
b) This does not reflect the number of PEOPLE posting on the threads - for all I know the big ones only have two posters on them.
c) It also, obviously, does not take account of who has fan sites elsewhere - people with very active Facebook groups, websites of their own etc may score poorly here.
d) Odd though, innit? Compare these results with the people actually discussed or voted for on the main forum. No similarity at all. Anyhoo...

What's the point

Can you come up with a way to compare how long ago the threads were actually started?. And how long the show was eg hms who were in a 3 month show will definately have longer threads than those in the 3 wk shows. And if possible the media exposure accorded to each hm after the show. I think some hms have long threads without high levels of media activity whereas some have exposure on a daily basis. That IMO will affect how fast moving their thread is. That will help

Another issue I think is the relative number of posts compared to the vews ie hms with no of posts not very different from the no of views probably have more support on the forum than outside it.On the other hand hms with posts much lower than the views attract more lurkers and hence generally a higher interest in the population. IMO it this ratio that is likely to determine how popular a hm is rather than the no of posts or posters themselves.

I could make up a gigantic mathematical formula. But I fear I would only get another 'what's the point?' and I would be a broken person after it.

Jeremy's thread 'Jezers mates appreciation' does not have lots of posters on it but has very high views. It is his racing thread and apart from the normal appreciation we always have the races live on the thread. So anyone can read the links and follow the race. We have also had his daily ranking on the international drivers data base which has about 30000 drivers world wide since August 2008.
The level of high views on this particular thread almost suggests that a lot of people outside of DS are following his racing career. So it would not surprise a person like me that he is making that specific appearance on the BB2 show tommorrow.

IMO It almost says that you could have hms who have lots of fans on DS but are of no real interest to the population in general.It almost answers your original question. The best example is why Jade has a shorter appreciation thread relative to the very long news threads on the main Forum.

It is TINY. For some reason it just doesn't interest people who like and admire her - perhaps because they feel it is too hidden away from the public gaze.

I think the two who have lost out are Nikki and Pete; I remember the 'before Nikki met Pete' thread being VAST, but then it went so hopelessly off-topic that it was banished to the Chat forum forever. I haven't counted it anyway, because when I once poked it cautiously with a stick it seemed to consist entirely of people discussing shopping and the weather.

I'm not sure this thread will promote constructive discussion. The appreciation threads are just a place to discuss your favourite housemates - it's not a competition to see who can post the most messages.
