That and Angel by Sarah McLachlan - the Westlife version was played at my fiance's sister's funeral and will always make both of us cry. |

Quite a lot of Glasvegas's debut album moves me a lot, and Stabbed brought a lump to my throat when I first heard it...it was just so hideously poignant at a time when there was relentless coverage of knife crime, and James Allen's voice as he is given his monologue sounds so haunting. I love James Allen's voice (he has a lot of deep, raw emotion in his voice, which, coupled with his thick Scottish accent, makes him seem very real and sincere in what he sings) but that was one of the few songs that has ever literally stopped me in my tracks. It doesnt really have that effect now though- it was a very immediate reaction to the song.
Other songs that have not made me cry necessarily but which have definately moved me include: The Libertines- What Became of the Likely Lads (I've only ever been able to listen to it about 3 or 4 times, it just breaks my heart every time) The Verve- On Your Own (its that Dickie again!) The Beatles- The Long and Winding Road Ludovico Einaudi- Le Onde Oasis- Dont Go Away The Pouges- Dirty Old Town Pete Doherty- Broken Love Song and Sheepskin Tearaway (any song by or about Peter Wolfe makes me sad- he's such a fantastically talented but tortured man )Babyshambles- Gang of Gin (some people think its hilarious- for me its a sad portrait of a man I respect at his lowest moment.) It seems strange to me now that I chose Sonnet just a few months ago- I know find it quite an uplifting song- guess that just shows the power of Mr Ashcroft, one minute he can reduce you to tears, the next make you feel on top of the world!

Various- X Japan.
Tearjerker city, although as its mostly bits of songs and live performances that get me I couldn't really out on particular song. The beginning lyrics of Art of Life, the performance of Forever Love in the Last Live where half the band breaks down in tears, the line in Jade "Your Scars are Beautiful" (God, I wish I knew what that song was about!), The bit in the IV where they disply hide's guitar... just little tidbits that choke you up, all over the place... Also : - Kimi wa inaika by Toshi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vl9gxd8n5mI – really sad fan video (ignoring the fact it says it is Made in Heaven, it actually is Kimi wa inaika)!! And Goodbye by hide (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjojvCoFLe0) Jade is about hide - I read somewhere Yoshiki wrote it after visiting hide’s grave. |

I agree, there are parts of X/X Japan live performances that are quite hard to watch; especially because the band themselves are so emotional (notably The Last Live and Taiji’s last live), they are amazing performances though!!! In terms of actual songs Forever Love (especially the Last Live version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnD5U8oLlow),

I've read that too, and I agree it seems most likely. The other theory was that it was that 'other half' of Without You, with hide talking back to Yoshiki, but when I listened whilst reading the lyrics it didn't really make sense in that context. I really wish I could know for certain though. The line "Your scars are beautiful", aside from being a good line, always makes me wonder "What scars?" |

"In The Arms Of an Angel" by Sarah McLaughlin is without a doubt the most moving song for me.
It reminds me of my little nephew who passed away at only 5 months old. Such an emotional track. |

first off is hope theres someone = anthony and the johnsons
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loNU4fVpO8E gets me everytime . second one is these are the days of our lives =queen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOJPvxgkvn8 lastly is no charge = tammy wynette http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaO9b8gWL9w mother played it for me when i was a youngster and i cried then but now since she has passed away it just kills me when i hear it.. This...and "I'm going slightly mad" is bittersweet. Written about a serious subject (Freddie's AIDS/HIV) but the video focuses on his characters. never fails to make me feel happy/sad at the same time...if that makes sense.

I know. Having watched several clips of X lives online, it's now one of my more petty ambitions to see them live. They are really brilliant- even just by watching YouTube vids you can tell that atmosphere's great. And yep, the Forever Love last live always comes this close to having me in tears. It makes it a lot worse when you get round to finding out the full story and understand the context as well.
I've read that too, and I agree it seems most likely. The other theory was that it was that 'other half' of Without You, with hide talking back to Yoshiki, but when I listened whilst reading the lyrics it didn't really make sense in that context. I really wish I could know for certain though. The line "Your scars are beautiful", aside from being a good line, always makes me wonder "What scars?" That is a really interesting theory about hide talking back to Yoshiki, but I agree the lyrics do not seem to fit. It does seem similar to Without You, perhaps it is supposed to be a rockier version? I don’t know exactly what “scars” is referring to but perhaps it is emotional scars rather than physical scars. Also, hide wrote the X Japan song Scars so perhaps it is something to do with that? There are many other lines that indicate it is for hide such as “another friend has gone, into the flame” and “sink like a stone into the dark” - hide’s ashes were spread in the sea. Its hard to analyse all of the lyrics at the moment as there are not any proper final studio versions, although hopefully the new “best of” album will be released soon as it is supposed to have Jade on it! As for other songs that bring a tear to my eye, here are some (all for different reasons but they are some of my favourite songs too)!! Queen – Who Wants to Live Forever and Show Must Go On. Pink Floyd – Us and Them Radiohead – Street Spirit Prince – Nothing Compares 2 U, Purple Rain Supertramp – Don’t Leave Me Now INXS – Never Tear Us Apart Paul Weller – You Do Something To Me |

I've quite literally just discovered the Fleet Foxes today, and have been sat like a big girl crying to White Winter Hymnal. It's just so beautiful. I read on the net somewhere that the song writer was inspired simply by seeing a group of small kids on a school day trip, and you can really sense that. It rings with a beautiful innocence and hope, and it makes me cry just typing about it. God I feel so silly!
Anyway, I've ordered the album.
