I prefer to buy CD's rather than download stuff. I know you have to pay for CD's but they aren't as expensive now as they used to be and i still like to own cds rather than download stuff. Anyone else the same?

I have only bought about 2 cds in the last 4 years . I have had to recently order a CD as I couldn't find it anywhere online but I think it will probably be my last.

I'm the same, but I fear they are on their way out.

I'm a CD addict, not a week goes by where I don't buy a couple of albums and singles. I tend to buy loads of older CDs off eBay too

These past couple of months i've been downloading a a fair bit though. (The Ipod Touch makes it so easy, plus it came with a £15 iTunes voucher! ) I still like to buy my singles though. I only ever download the 'd/l only' tracks or EPs (I downloaded the Sugababes AOL Sessions EP - fantastic ).

I'm more open to downloads now they are becoming less and less restricting (DRM etc) but i still fear for the future of the CD singles I like to hold stuff in my hand and look at the pictures and read the text

In theory yes, but the CDs were taking over the house at 1000+.

I now only buy one for artists that I collect. Also as I have an MP3 subscription service it's much cheaper.

I've got over 1000 CDs and the amount of space they take up is incredible. I now only buy CDs from certain artists and download the rest.

Still enjoy browsing stores for CDs but it is dying out-more or less has done for singles. I think I've only bought around a dozen or so CD singles in the last year. I guess I've been dragged into the download era more by necessity than choice

I think I read somewhere that only 1/5th of albums sold are downloaded, the rest are bought as physicals.

As for singles... CD singles are a dying breed.

People are sacrificing quality for convenience.

I still always buy CDs rather than downloading, although I must admit space to store them all is becoming an issue - all my CD racks are currently full and I have piles of CDs stacked in various places in my front room.

I never buy singles though, only albums.

Slowly getting rid of mine, just keeping a select few, plus all the ones I have by my favourite band. They take up too much room and are a pain when you move house!

I buy albums for both the artists I collect and CDs which I know will be good. I download albums if their on offer, or if I don't require a physical version.

I like to make CDs a feature.

In my old bedroom I done this. The rest were in a rack.

It looked better "in reality" than on that photo, though.

I think CDs make a nice feature even if they're just in a rack.

Oooo see some nice Sigur Ros, and Bjork on that wall collection.

I'm the same, but I fear they are on their way out.
Nah, will not be going anywhere for a longgggggggggg time.

I'm still a CD buyer and will always be while the things are in the universe, don't pay to download music. I'd rather have all the music I like on CD with bookletts and everything. Nice physical CDs.

I believe they say (whoever "they" are) that most people buy singles as downloads to go on ipods and the like (downloads are also cheaper than CD singles.) but we mostly buy albums as CDs because we like having something tangible to hold and look at and stuff.

I buy CD albums and have about 500. Don't buy as many now but will still buy a few new albums a year. Last one, Lily Allen and next will probably be U2.

I much prefer the CD in my hand. When you have the artwork , lyrics, photos, you feel you have something of quality......not some tacky download you can lose should your PC 'die'

Plus people tend to cherry pick singles rather than go for a whole album, yet my favourite tracks are nearly always the more obscure songs that took a bit of listening.

If we go over to downloading completely I feel we will be the losers in the long run......and of course, strange as you might find it, there ARE still people who don't own a computer or don't know how to download....downloading excludes them completely

Im almost 100% downloads now, as they are quick, high quality, cheaper, and you can pick the tracks you want and leave the duff ones. Having said that, I have huge storage space on this PC and almost always convert Mp3s to wav to store the songs in a lasting quality format. All my drives are RAID mirrored so they have fault tolerance and I am unlikely to lose anything (there are backups too).

CDs are as dead as vinyl is. In years to come they will be regarded as quaint.

If songs are sold on any solid format at all in the future, it is more than likely to be a USB stick or memory card of some description.

I too am strictly downloads tho' I prefer to download entire albums...I can bias favourite tracks by rating the album tracks on iTunes and utilising smart playlists to put my favourites on frequent rotation whilst maintaining the integritty of the original recording...who knows how my musical taste will evolve so I prefer to keep complete albums in my digital library.

Example...having watched , and been moved , by the movie "Control" I am only now discovering the hidden delights and treasure left by the oh too short career of Ian Curtis and Joy Division..having only until now appreciated "Love will tear us apart " and "Shadowland" ) post Killers )

Vinyl is actually making an unexpected comeback They're increasing in sales in both the UK and USA.

CDs won't die any time soon, not albums anyway.

Apparently only 1/5th of albums bought are downloaded. People still like CDs. You can't give someone digital files as a gift, for example (although you could get a gift card for iTunes and such). There's no posters, or funky unique CD cases, or proper special editions of digital files.

There's no point in converting MP3s to wav...the info has been junked. You may as well just back up your MP3s.

I still buy CDs (and records off of eBay) and download the odd track. I think Spotify will take off big time though and is probably where the future is at.
