Panasonic DMR-EX768EB-K
I Just went and got one of these with a relative to get them ready for digital switchover and found that it would not
a) show news multiscreen or weather video on BBCi b) Rewind Live TV unless the unit had been recording or paused first - i may have been pressing the wrong rewind button if there are 2, but i can remember the control so tell me which button you can do this with can anyone shed any light on these two issues are they major faults with the particular unit? Are they limitations? or are these problems experienced by other owners? if any of the above applies please post your feedback to me Thanks in advance This may be in the wrong area of the forum as it is a Freeview DVD HDD Recorder Apologies if it is |

Did you specifically ask about these two features when buying, and if so were you told it did both?
I can't comment on the multi-screen thing as we don't use Freeview here, but the Pause/Rewind live TV sounds correct. I have a Philips DVDR-HDD and that works exactly the same as the Panasonic. It's something to do with activating the recording buffer. Just looked at the Pana manual. Pages 41 & 44 seem pretty clear. You have to be in "pause TV" mode first. If you wanted to pause/rewind any channel being viewed without activating the record buffer then I think a Humax or Topfield PVR might have been the better choice. Do remember though that any PVR can only rewind to the point where you switched to that channel. Regards Chris |

Regards Chris I haven't got the manual to view but you've cleared that one up ive got a SKY plus so can relate to the instance where you can only rewind what you've watched based on what you set it to i.e. 30/60, can't remember all the time settings off hand in the services menu :P any panny owners who can/cannot use BBCI news multiscreen or weather videos? comments welcome please |

I have a similar machine, the DMR EX77.
With regard to the BBC multiscreens, all four are working on my machine. Keep in mind that unlike on satellite, there are only 4 screens, and they cant be enlarged to fill the tv screen. This is due to a limitation with Freeview, not the equipment. I always get to the multiscreens via one of the BBC channels, and pressing the red button, then select the news multiscreen option from the BBC menu bar. I dont go direct to the 305 channel. Press the Exit button on the handset to return to tv. Dave |

Dave shame ofcom haven't realised it needs more and how much it would have benefited freeview to be given some of the additional analogue spectrum being sold off as for the thing about going direct to 305 i became very aware of that when i got a freeview box in December 2002 Fond memories of the excellent daewoo setpal box which could pick up a signal practially anywhere in my house with a small portable aerial what a great tuner them setpals had back on topic so its all working for you, right well i will have another look next time i go to my relatives house if it isn't working permanently,i will contact panasonic as it may be a bug in the software of that particular model of box comments welcome people if you are an owner of this model and bbc multiscreen works |
