MP3 player help
Hi,
I want an MP3 player but I just can't choose. I like IPODS as they store so much but I don't want itunes , have lots of songs I "found" online and would prefer something with a radio. Any ideas? Or should I just go for an IPOD ? |

My younger brother has an iPod and its a right pain, especially getting songs from it when you accidentaly deleted an .mp3
So I would go for something different song? Personally the mp3 player I have got from asda LOL |

Asda? It would probably be too small. I have over 1000 tracks , most of which are over 5 minutes long.
Why can't IPODS come with radios and be non-fiddly! Maybe I should just get the creative as it is what I am used to |

I have the 16GB Creative Zen and it's great for music & podcasts - very small, light, excellent battery life, easy to use and takes SD cards for expansion.
Has an FM radio but the reception can be very mixed. Don't use it for video so I can't comment on that. |

How about:
http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/...ayer.2491.html FM Radio and will hold around 1500 tracks, certainly over 1000 anyway. Or the 16gb version if you want more capacity: http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/...ayer.2624.html Or, if you don't mind spending a bit more, how about a DAB radio instead of just plain old FM? In 8gb: http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/...adio.2623.html And 16gb: http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/...adio.3337.html I've been using a Cowon player for a few years now. Very nice kit, just not a big name in the UK. Big in Asia (where they REALLY know their gadgets!) and pretty big in the USA, but not in the UK and Europe. I'd recommend them. Oh, and they both have stupendous battery life. Both are rated at over 50 hours for audio. More info and chat on Cowon products here: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/index.php But Creative are good too. Thats who I used before I switched to Cowon when I wanted a PMP. |

My slight OCD loves that function! Another question for anyone who knows , will it be easy putting my music onto an MP3 player if I "found" the tracks online? |

I had the same problem a while back. I also wanted an MP3 player with a radio. I didnt want an Ipod or the dreaded itunes.
I ended up buying a Sandisk Sansa Fuze, which kind of looks like the Ipod nano, but without Itunes. It has a mechanical wheel, radio, will play videos and show photos, and the best bit is you can add additional memory to it without any problems. I got a 4GB player and put a further 4gb Micro sdhc card in to bump it to 8gb, however in theory you could add the largest available sdhc card, which is 32gb (IIRC) if you wanted. Add additional space as and when you need, and for only £50 from play.com. |

Thanks. Do these players have a list of the most played?

The Cowon ones all allow plain onld drag and drop if you don't want to use the bundled software. Or you can always use something like MediaMonkey to sync if you'd prefer. |

I guess it's back to a Creative or IPOD then. I need to know the amount of times a song has been played!

OK. Your call!
Seems an odd one though.

52 hours battery life for audio. (And 10 hours for video for that matter .... which is also better than anything Apple or Creative have to offer that I'm aware of)
Market leading audio sound quality.
Built in DAB digital radio.
No requirement for iTunes or any other syncing software if you don't want it. Generic type cables, and everything should be in the box when you buy it. Basically, no stupid restrictions or proprietary cables you'll get charged an arm and a leg for further down the line.
Tons of other functionality in there ....
OR

Knowing how many times a song has been played.
lol. Personally, no offence intended here, I think you're mad! ![]()

Or just buy the creative soon as I can't take being in a waiting room for 2 hours without music again. |

You don't have to use itunes if you want to own an Ipod. You can use Windows media player or mediamonkey to manage your music.
As far as i know only ipods included the feature that you've put as a top requirement. |

That's the player I used to use(was my ex's) but don't like the fact that when you add songs onto the memory card , they are separate from the main library if that makes sense.
I also think 16GB is too small but..meh. Great little player. The SD card storage being seperate from the rest of the HD is annoying, but I suppose you could just use Music on the HD and Video on the card. If you want to use an Ipod without Itunes, try mediamonkey. It works great with all mp3 players, plus it's a multi format music jukebox. |

It's what I use as my virtual jukebox anyway and the fact that it's able to sync my wifes iPod, thus allowing us to avoid the hateful pile of crap that iTunes is on Windows, is a bonus. |
