Recommend 5 underrated bands/artists
Hopefully this will be a way for people to discover some new bands as well as show a mutual appreciation for the artists/bands that we think everyone should love.
I'm going to say: 1. Santogold 2. Ladyhawke 3. Electrelane 4. Sneaky Sound System 5. Crystal Castles Anyone like these artists or got any other bands they'd like to recommend?

I really like Santogold from your list , I think Creator, You'll Find a Way, Say Aha and Anne are great tracks. Not really familiar with the music of the others.
I'd say my 5 are : Jazmine Sullivan Pendulum Tim Buckley Bat For Lashes Ivri Lader |

Am already a fan of Santogold, Bat for Lashes, Tim Buckley, The Knife and Metric - would definitly support Metric as a great band that hardly anyone in this country seems to have heard of though.
Checked out the others mentioned and am liking Electrelane a lot. ![]() To throw a few more names out there: Okkervil River Merz Kyte Stars And The National, who I think possibly are quite well known, but are just so good that I had to mention them anyway! |

Of those mentionned, I'd second the recommendations of Bat For Lashes, Camera Obscura, Merz and Stars.
Aside from those, I'd recommend: 1) Delays 2) Mew 3) The Leisure Society 4) Fields 5) St Famous Along with Fionn Regan, Jacob Golden, Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, Puressence, Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton, IAMX and Thirteen Senses (I'm sorry but five just isn't enough )

Florence and the Machine- didn't know much about them until I saw them on Thursday night and was blown away by the woman's voice- she is amazing!
This is them on Thursday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3WqLNsXrgA And this is probably their most famous song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpsDe...eature=related On a slight tangent I bumped into Florence before the gig as I was coming out of the toilets- she is breathtakingly beautiful- I didn't realise who she was though until she went on stage!

It depends if you mean unpopular or not critically acclaimed.
Bat For Lashes, as already mentioned, gets pretty much positive criticism all the time, but she's not as big as she deserves to be. There's also Skin, theSTART, Siobhan Donaghy and To My Boy who's material is great but unpopular, or be it not as discovered. |

I saw Florence and the Machine on the NME tour thing in Birmingham the other week as well, and yeah I'd agree she is really good.

I am not sure if this thread is just for current or "old" but anyway here are mine. I have always felt that each of these never got the recognition they deserved - especially Harry Nilsson. Just a personal view of course
With all due respect I have not heard of most the artistes mentioned already but I shall certainly check some out.Free: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDHNZuAnBoU Sensational Alex Harvey Band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNwLxwZHMOw Harry Nilsson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hZI6qJBvDE Alvin Lee: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHw9b4BBV9Y Peter Green: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxux5LdmjQU |

I don't know 5 under-rated bands, but I know one -
NERD. They should get more recognition. They haven't had a hit here since 2004. |
