The Jack Petchy foundation, who Alex presented some awards for, actually stated that Alex didn't take a fee, but instead asked for a donation to be made to a special needs school in the area ”

He didn't take a fee but did he get expenses?

Huh!...........What's Cameron got to do with wondering if Alex got expenses?

If the topic was about Cameron I would still ask the same question when told he didn't get a fee for his charity work...............Did he get expenses?

Obviously being an actual winner of BB I would expect Cameron to get far more expenses than Alec.

I am sure there have been occasions when alex has done things free for charity and occasions when he has received money from show appearances that are not charity related at all - and why not - he has to earn a living

There are a lot of celebrities that say they are doing things for charity and then do earn a lot from the show also as expenses -..i'm a celebrity.. is one of these scenarios

With alex though he has real integrity and i can't see him fitting into this bracket

congrats to alex and john tickle for knowing the difference between short term opportunities that are fun and desperately grubbing around in the hope of sustaining a longer term career- and here i am talking about BB contestants who don't have the necessary talents to sustain it - if they have the talent then fair play to them - unfortunately most don't and seem endlessly willing to humiliate themselves

I think Alex has been grubbing around in the hope of sustaining a longer term career in television.
The truth is, as I've said all along, he hasn't got the ambition or the required skills to hold down regular job on TV.

Well said rubber woman, most of the charity work that Alex does, does not come to public attention I am sure, he does not seem desperate for a long-term career at any cost but more happy to take what appeals to him.
He is probably quite secure with the work he has done so far and is quite happy to fill in his time with charity work.

Bystander, Alex is not grubbing around at all, he takes what pleases him and nothing more, that's quite obvious. He is not a desperate wannabe and never was, I don't think he cares.
Further, your suggestions of him taking fees for charity work are beginning to p**s me off a little, I am sure you know that he is not that sort of person. He has stated many times that any fees offered are given back to the charity. Most of the time we do not seem to even hear about these engagements.

And I think that you think wrong, you seem to have run down nearly all Alex's tv appearances if not all of them and I think you know full well that Alex is quite capable on tv both in his guest appearances and his presenting but you are at odds to admit this, he is certainly better on tv than miss Lawler who as the BB3 winner is bound to get tv work even though she is sh*te at it, if Alex had won BB3 he would be getting the jobs Miss Lawler has taken, but he would probably have turned them down, as he is not as desperate as her. At the end of the day wheather you wish to believe it or not Kate's jobs are on the the back of winning BB3 and for no other reason as she is just crap at whatever she tries her hand at on tv imho.

Alex and Jon not bothered about pushing for tv careers, but both with the most talent for tv.

Kate really bothered about a tv career and really pushing it but totally bland and talentless.

Alex seems to only accept the jobs that appeal to him and that he thinks he will enjoy. As for having the required skills..I think he has proved that he quite competent and intelligent enough to meet which ever challanges he choses to take on.

Also any charity work Alex does usually only comes to light because the charity itself announces his participation..I've never known him to bring it into the public eye himself

How do you know that Alex takes what pleases him and nothing more? I think he takes whatever his agent gives him, even the charity work and you have no way of knowing if he's is selective in his choice of work or whether he gets expenses instead of a fee.

PS: It's customary to put a smiley after "p**s me off ".

At the end of the day all of Alex's TV work is either from being "Alex from Big Brother " or making up the numbers as the token good looking guy and for no other reason. ..................whether you like it or not.

I asked,..because you failed to address this in another thread where Cameron's altruism was questioned. Instead you chose to conveniently ignore this point.
But in this thread you find it a relevant point to bring up when it concerns Alex.

No, the topic isn't about Cameron,..it can develop if it wants.
If somebody can bring up the issue that Alex gets expenses, then you are asking people to examine that point,..then surely I can ask if some other BB contestant got expenses.

As far as I'm concerned we still were talking about Alex,..I simply wrote one post to compare a suggestion you made about one BB contestant, but decided to ignore with another.

Do you have a list of things that I cannot bring up, talk about, or bring into the discussion?
I didn't realise that the thread was supposed to be kept so narrow that it can't go anywhere.

As far as I was concerned I felt that my question was in context with how Alex is perceived when doing charity work.

So comparisons with Alex doing charity work compared with other celebs doing charity work is out of bounds then?

I didn't take the thread off topic,..I asked you a question that was very relevant to a topic that the thread brought up itself.....Maybe I touched a raw nerve there.

At the end of the day you could say any ex BBer's get work on the back of BB, the point I was making was that BB winner's get work almost handed to them on a plate even if they do make crap tv, as you well know that was the point I was making. And as good looking a guy as he is, Alex has never used it to his advantage for tv work, apart from Blind date tell me where his looks would have been an advantage?! So tell me where his looks have made a difference to any other tv appearances please?

Going by his tv appearances I would say tv producers wanted Alex for his charm, wit and good humoured approach..........besides coming across well on tv, wheather you like it or not

Answer me if you can where any other BB contestant who came third has done as well as Alex, if it was looks, then people reckoned Spencer was good looking, so why wasn't he offered work on his looks?

As for your 'making the numbers up' remark Bystander, I expected better of you. If it was purely for making the numbers up then surely anyone would do, why would they seek out Alex. I will tell you why, because they wanted Alex not just anyone and not for making the numbers up either

ps. I can make a list of Alex's tv appearances if you like and you can go through them one by one and tell me where his looks would have been relevant, although it could take quite a while

Not sure if anyone has posted this elsewhere but Katie was furiously plugging Alex again last Friday.(Such a forgiving person-an “angel” in fact)
They were going through the “pilot show” which is on Channel 4-Friday 11.30?-they had the two guys on who did it all-I gather it was aired on E4 and this is it being repeated on C4.
They were all discussing Alex in the cupboard for a minute and basically stroking him quite nicely.(Did not show it-they showed a bit of Narinder- isn’t she gorgeous looking!)
I believe the first two have been aired so it is the third one this Friday-you guys will know if this means Alex has been shown or not yet.

Iain said, 'Alex was in the Big Brother series that you were in, wasn't he?' and Kate said,'Yes.' That's what Vilt means by furiously plugging.

It isn't Alex who decides to use his looks as an advantage to get TV work, it's the producers who select him.

I thought I had kind of answered your question about Cameron but I will answer again for clarification but as the words "fee and expenses" seem to be causing a lot of animosity where Alex is concerned, perhaps " advantage " might be a better word.

I'm somewhat cynical when it comes to celebrities and charities and even though I don't doubt Cameron and Alex are very sincere in their participation, I believe that with prompting from their agents there's always some kind of advantage for both sides, be it financial or work opportunities.
