Hi,
I have an Xbox 360
connected via VGA cable to a Bravia KDL-19L4000, which has a resolution of 1680x1050.

When I set the xbox to output this resolution, I get a 'no sync' message.

The manual says the 1280x768 is the max supported vga resolution, but it will happily accept 1440x900.

Why won't a 1680x1050 display not accept a 1680x1050 signal?

It might be beyond the bandwidth capabilities of the cable.

You know your TV's VGA input only accepts 60Hz signals too, right?

I'm using the official Microsoft vga cable.

The Xbox 360 outputs 60hz default, and all other modes below 1680x1050 work fine.

It looks like a compatibility issue then. There are some older posts from a year ago suggesting that 1680x1050 isn't officially supported. Some folk have it working. Some don't. Others have a picture shifted way off the screen. Seems a bit hit and miss.

As the manual says the maximum VGA resolution is 1280x768, why not set it to that?.

Or, connect via Component leads (which usually come with the Xbox - they did with mine), and set the Xbox to 1080i.
