BBC 2 HD channel?

Last night I wanted to record Richard Hammond on BBC 2. I was given the option to record on normal or HD. I chose normal as I had already set Lark Rise to record in HD, and didn't want to risk a clash.

So is this a new HD channel?

No. It was offering you the chance to record the HD broadcast which is on tonight. They couldn't simulcast because Lark rise had the 8pm slot on BBC HD.

Stunningly so!! I wonder how far in advance it works?

Next week BBC HD are showing '10 Days to War', in what must be nearly a year since it was shown as part of Newsnight. I'm almost positive it wasn't shown in HD last year.

It works up to the end of the current epg data ie 7 days. It's certainly a great idea.

Thanks all. We'll have to pay careful attention in future.
