Sorry if this is the dumbest question on the planet but I'm almost certainly for cost reasons having to get a USB stick for my lap-top. I don't want the cost of line-rental etc as I've just moved into a new flat. I don't download hardly ever so would 3gb - 5gb enable me to browse the net each month without limitations? Ie I won't be struggling to go on web-sites at the end of each month cos I've used up all my quota time? HELP is appreciated from a techno virgin !!

Thanks

Almost certainly yes, that would be sufficient. Two things to note: Mobile Broadband is only as good as mobile coverage, so if you have bad 3g coverage in your area you will get REALLY bad speeds. Each of the networks has a coverage checker, which it is worth putting your postcode into. Also, mobile broadband is never quite as good as home broadband, not necessarily due to speed but the latency (delay) in the connection, so I frequently have problems with iPlayer, Skype and the like.

One last point, operators will always let you upgrade, so if you truly are a "lite" user, then 3's package, 1gb for a tenner a month, no contract, will probably be a good choice, if you get coverage. If not they all do 3gb packages for about £15 a month, some with contract, some without. Vodafone are undoubtedly the best network in the UK for coverage statistically, but like any network, if you are in one of their dead spots, it may be the very worst choice ...

And streaming/watching live video etc.. is the same as downloading,so if you have youtube running all day it might actually be possible to use more than 5 gb in a month.

You know how you have articles about converting youtube footage to dvd?it's because you already downloaded the content.

I've never kept count on exactly how much i use on youtube,i don't use it that often.

Found this comment below on the web
Listening to 128Kb MP3 internet radio consumes 1GB per day, if you leave it running 24 hours a day.
