Hi folks,
Another new owner here after just picking up my Humax from Argos today. However, not knowing much about satellite connections and being a bit stupid of me I hadnt realised the coaxial cables to connect it to the wall plate dont actually come with it! Doh! So, before i trot off to my nearest maplins tomorrow and spend an unneccessary fortune, is there anything I should know regarding the type I should be going for and whether I can buy the cable with the connectors already attached or is there anywhere online better / cheaper?

This may sound a silly question but have you got a satellite dish installed on your house? I ask as a wall face plate is not that common on satellite installs. I have heard of people who think they connect the receiver to their TV arial, I'm not suggesting you think this but...

If you have a dish then for us to help you properly you realy need to tell us what type of face plate you have. Is it a normall tv type or the proper satellite F type. Also has your dish got twin LNB both wired to the face plate?

Basically you will need F type shotgun connectors to connect the coax to the LNB inputs on your Humax. If your wall plate is F type then you will need F type shotgun connectors to connect to the wall plate. If a normal TV type wall plate has been used then you need F type male plugs to connect to the wall plate. If the dish has twin LNB both wired to the face plate it is best to get twin shotgun coax also known as Sky+ coax. For this type of coax you require the proper size F type connector as the diamitor of the connector (the part the slides over the cable) is about 1mm smaller then the F type connectors for single coax.

Of course if the answer is no, you have not got a dish then you obviously need to arrange an install and the installer will have everything required.
