I know of them and have the programme "Banzai" to thank as well. I was watching an episode and heard a piece of music that sounded an awful lot like "Behind The Mask," which I only knew as an Eric Clapton song. I did a bit of investigation and found out about the Yellow Magic Orchestra and managed to get their version of "Behind The Mask," which I absolutely love.

Got most of their albums.

A superb Japanese band who knew how to use technology and make interesting accessible pop music in the late 70's and 80's.

A large number of UK electropop acts must have been influenced by them (along with Kraftwerk).

Shame they never really made it big in the UK although they were a cult act around the end of 70's and early 80's.

Saw them live in London last year as part of the Meltdown 08 Festival.

There is loads of YMO on youtube.

They sometimes perform as "HASYMO".

Human Audio Sponge is another name they go by.

I found them last month and have ordered their CD!
I would have loved to have seen them live in the early 80's.
My favourite track is Tong Poo

Ryuichi Sakamoto made some wonderful music in the 80s with David Sylvian of Japan. He also scored Bowie's movie Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.
