Unfortunately, we live in an entertainment culture that demands sensationalism. Rudeness is regarded as entertaining by a lot of viewers. It's an undesirable state of affairs in my view. Maybe you're right. Maybe it does "need addressing".

I still don't believe any of Jason's remarks are "personal attacks" though. I think he's mainly playing for effect. Doesn't justify some of what he says though.”

To say that calling him a potato head is offensive is stretching credibility to the limit

Strangle many people claimed that Ross was not offensive. That strecthed credability to the other extreme

The trouble with DOI is that the judges have NO personalities.

They are bland and flat.

Jason is their biggest draw, judgewise, which is why they ask for his comments more than any other judge. And unfortunately he's just rude, without any real sparkle.

I did quite admire the way he good naturedly took the booing, and seemed willing to play the pantomime villain. But this never quite progressed to actual humour.

Shame really

Personal attacks are definitely not a good substitute for humour.

Jason goes too far at times and should tone his remarks down a bit IMO. But he does give constructive criticism, unlike Ruthie who just comes across as a nasty old witch with nothing helpful to say. (Mind you, there are probably those who think Jason is a nasty old bitch. )
