Reminder to Check your ITV HD Timers

Most people will know this, but I just thought I'd put up a reminder for those that have forgotten

With the recent update of Freesat channels (1 TWR Radio added & 1 Bubble Hits TV removed), your HDR will have done a rescan.

This removes all ITV HD timers, but leaves the others intact.

Not too many to re-instate

Thanks savvy, I didn't know that.....why does it only affect ITVHD?

I'm actually about to watch my first ITVHD programme.....Billy Connolly tomorrow night is the first thing I've been half interested in on ITVHD!

I don't know the technical reason, but can only surmise that it is because ITV HD is "only" a Red Button service, not a channel.

Thanks for that info, has anyone added this to the list of bugs yet?

I can't see it in that thread with a quick scan of it.

But ...... I don't know enough about the technicalities of Satellite Channels, and Red Button Streams, to say that this is a Humax bug or a "feature" of Red Button Streams.

i.e. a freesat scan does not destroy any of the "normal" timers (unlike a Freeview scan on a 9300T, by the way, so I'm quite impressed with this). So is it just the way that ITV have implemented this HD stream that causes it?

Rgds.

Yes, still not available in HD from the EPG

I haven't watched anything on ITV HD yet so how do I watch it on HD. Do I have to be there at the moment the red button appears to press it...... or can it be pressed at any point in the programme?

If it's being broadcast in HD, you can press Red at any time during the programme (not sure about during the adverts?).

If you still have your Billy Connolly timer set in HD, it should just record at the "start of programme" signal.

The red button does not seem to work in adverts. If you are recording ITV HD and goto 103 you pick up HD automatically without pressing red, well it does if the other tuner is recording. Need to try it with only one tuner recording.

Yes, I've read before that you can't watch ITV in SD if you are recording it in HD; I presume the converse of this is also true.

I haven't tried it myself, as I very very rarely watch live TV (might have to on Sunday though if they don't fix the Wild at Heart HD EPG issue).

So, even if I didn't press the red button, it would still record and therefore play back in HD then?

Only if you have managed to set it to record in HD from the EPG in advance.

Les, it won't give me the option to record in HD....like the way it does on BBC. How do I set it up to record in HD then?

You can't at the moment - read further up

Until ITV/Freesat, sort this out in the EPG, hopefully before Sunday, we're stuck.

If you haven't already, go to tonight's Billy Connolly on ITV in the EPG, and press OK, it should then ask if you want to record in HD or SD; having selected HD, it should then ask if you want to record the Series.

Thats what I did.....but no option to record in HD is available. Is this anything to do with region then?

Hmmm....... I've just checked mine. I'm ITV London on 103. It is showing in my Schedule to record in HD, and on the EPG as being in HD. (Also OK on 977 ITV London)

I deleted the schedule, just to make sure it wasn't retaining old information (this happened with the England/Spain football match). I then selected it again in the EPG, and it let me schedule the whole series as HD.

(We are talking about Billy Connolly on tonight, not Wild at Heart on Sunday, aren't we?)

Try it on 977 ITV London, if this fails.

Right, I deleted my schedule, went to ITV London, pressed record, and lo and behold the HD option appears! So it must be regional then?

Sooooo, does this mean it will actually record in HD now from London .....or will it not, because thats not my local station and it will only record locally because it knows my postcode.

Sorry if thats a stupid question (don't laugh) but I really don't know??

It shouldn't be Regional. (but you can legitimately record from CH 977, anyway)

I'm presuming you now have it set on 977 ITV London? Is it showing in the EPG on CH 977 as set to record, and with a red HD flag against it?

What is your CH 103 channel showing in the EPG - the same, or different?

2 things you could now try :-

1. Delete the CH 977 schedule from the EPG (just pressing OK on the Programme in the EPG will ask you if you want to remove it.) This may then "clear" the anomaly. Then try to re-set the timer from scratch in the EPG on Ch103.

2. Try a Default Reset, and start again.

Let us know.

Rgds.

ITV HD is not available on STV (Scotland) and UTV (Northen Ireland) regions. If you are on these regions, use channel 977 (ITV London) to view and record ITV HD programmes.

Good point, I forgot about Scotland, and N. Ireland - how could I?

Not sure of Caz's location?

Cheers savvy. Just reading your other thread there about Derek from ITV. Great to see a technical support guy being so helpful for a change and actually willing to hear from us about any other problems
