if there was a worship smiley, i would use it...

i thought i was the only one to have never heard of most these songs

i can think of at least 6 Aretha Franklin songs better than all the songs on this list!

but i guess that's DS for you

I guess reason would have it that some of the Best Bands would also have the Best song.....

81 people voted for their top 15 songs and these polled the highest...of my own top 15, 3 made the list....these are the DS voters highest polled songs and I am sorry that you are unhappy there is no Leona/Alexandra/Mariah/Whitney etc but these are the songs people voted for (obv DS forum members have taste! )....

And as for my best band show? as you call it - the best bands were also voted for by everyone on DS.....

And this is just a bit of fun, and also something that I am putting a lot of my own time into - so try not to be so negative just becuase the top 18 voted for songs dont reflect your own taste in music ....broden your musical horizons and maybe listen to some of those legendary songs/artists before you call them appauling....

Did you nominate any songs before this contest started?

To be fair, most of the tracks on their aren't really my taste in music as well, but I also didn't nominate any of the tracks, so I can't really complain.

It's only supposed to be a bit of fun.

Also, just because you've not heard of something doesn't make it rubbish, I personally take great pleasure in listening to bands I've never heard of, discovered some great acts that way.

I can't believe people are saying they haven't heard of the songs / artists on this list.

I guess I live in a very different world to some people...

the OP didn't compile the list, the forum members here did, so back off and stop being so rude.

Honestly, some people seem unable to distinguish between opinion and fact when it comes to music!

And if you don't know many of the songs, I suggest you need to get a bit of a musical education, quite frankly.

A Day in the life - The Beatles - good, but not as good as While My guitar gently weeps or Day Tripper

Baba O Reily - The Who - I love the Who, but no! 5.15 is much better, as is The Sea
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen - arguably the best ever single of all time
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol - good
Don't Wanna Miss A Thing - Aerosmith - good track, but not world class
Echoes - Pink Floyd - no should be "wish you were here"
Everybody Hurts - REM - excellent
Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead - not in the same division
Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley = average good - Cohen is better
Hey Jude - The Beatles - excellent
How Soon Is Now? - The Smiths - besdsit wankfest
Imagine - John Lennon -wife rates it
Love will tear us apart - Joy Division - self-indulgent shit
November Rain - Guns N Roses - what?
That's Entertainment - The Jam -excellent
With or Withou You - U2 - excellent

PM me the name of the song you want to save before 8.15pm when I will then reveal the two songs with the lowest votes and thus the two songs leaving tonight in the first double elimination.....!

Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol!

Comiserations to the boys from Snow Patrol. They leave the competition in 15th place with the much loved - Chasing Cars.

But a huge congrats to Radiohead who with Fake Plastic Trees go on to the Top 14.

For one last time - here's Snow Patrol with Chasing Cars....
