Review - A disappointing Brits awards
I was disappointed by this years Brits, it was missing high energy and excitement... felt very grammy-ish in places.
U2 - Mirror Copy performance from grammys - better sound this time though - Just not their best song but liked the visuals and eye shaddow! [ 6/10 ] suggestion - different song choice! Girls Aloud - singing live and put on a perfomance. Their vocals were the best I have heard of them ... sure they had some bum notes in there (mostly from Cheryl and Kimberly) but it was good [7.5/10] - suggeston change of tempo ....introduced jason nevins remix version to lift things. Duffy - a sound solid and polished performance despite bad lighting. [8.5/10] Kings Of Leon - Solid performance; nothing more nothing less. 7/10 Estelle/Ting Tings - very misguided ...the mash up didnt work and Estelle ran on out of breathe and could hardly sing [4/10] Suggestion - They should have collaberated more on a cover version. Take That - at first i was WOW.... then i relaised they were miming...very disappointing..... they dont usually mime ...who on earth made that choice .... spoiled what could have been a wonderful TT performance ..... [6/10] suggestion: dont mime! Pet Shop Boys - visually very good ...medley became too much and lady gaga and brandon were welcome additions. A few bum notes though. 8/10 suggestion: a quick medley then a more focused two songs that used lady gaga and brandon. presenters... iliked the first dacning sketch but then to be honest kylie would have been better on her own! Overall. Dispappointing Brits. Performances were safe and unexciting. Where were the great collaborations and cover versions? Still the award winners were a suprise and next year I am sure that Lady Gaga and Lily Allen will rule the roost! |

I only saw a bit, but I found Take That very disapointing, Kings of Leon to be quite good, and Estelle and the Ting Tings to just be plain out strange. I dont understand what they were trying to do - if they were trying to mash up both of their songs, it didnt work.

Its very ironic that Take That were miming considering they went off on this big rant about Britney doing it on the X-Factor. |

Caleb Followill and his siblings were stunning and brighted up the night for me! U2 was good, KOL were very good, Chris Martin is thin as a rake and the mash up was appauling. An awards show needs a strong host or it all becomes a little dull and disorganised- also cutting out the swearing just makes it boring!

Just watching the repeat of this. I caught some of it round a mates when it was first on.
The Ting Tings/Estelle mash up was a train wreck, as was the Pet Shop Boys with Brandon Flowers and Lady Ga Ga. The Ting Tings I think are fairly talentless anyway but it was really poor. Reminded me of the Wu Tang Clan collaborating with Texas. Not saying it was THAT bad. I mean, nothing ever will be that bad. Guaranteed. But it was all in the same ball park. Corden and Horne were painfully unfunny. I too cannot see the attraction with these two - they are not the slightest bit funny. But then what more do you expect from 2 people who's careers took off via BBC3? |
