Thanks Caz, hmm will have to weigh up the messing about with adding schedules again against the fact the factory reset might not change anything. I suspect I'll leave it, then when I have yet another day of missed recordings and get it in the ear from my other half, wish I'd done the factory reset after all...

Do they set up in your road, and their massive amps drain the local grid?

No. They fly into the power lines. Result? One roasted swan and a few hours power outage. There's a number of places around here where Whooper Swans spend the winter. Hundreds, if not thousands, of them.

Anyone had any problems with Yellowstone recording tonight on BBC HD.

The HDR came out of standby at 7.45pm as the norm but failed to start recording at 8.00pm.

This is the first recording to fail to start in 4 months and I was wondering if the EPG failed to send the signal to start.

Yup, mine failed to record too, only the 2nd time in 4 months or so, I wonder if this was the BBC not sending the start flag?

Same here, thought it was just my box!

On another point relocation recorded but the schedule is still showing yesterdays date when the program is clearly on again next week. Will it update or is something wrong with the series. Have channel 4 included a program from another series?

Just checked mine, and it failed too. However, the symptoms don't fit for the BBC not to have sent the Start signal. Normally, when this happens, you get nothing in the Media List, and the Timer just moves to the next episode. If you don't scrutinise these things daily, you don't notice until you come to want to watch the prog days later, and there is just no evidence of anything.

This isn't the case here with Yellowstone (at least on my box, anyway). There is a Yellowstone programme in the Media list at 0 minutes, but it is not in the Yellowstone folder, just on its own. If you try to open this up, you get the "Failed Recording, Unknown Reason, Delete box.

This looks like it "tried" to start recording, but then failed for some other reason.

This is where a System/Event Log would really help in diagnosis of these types of situation.

Rgds.

Graham,

Are you saying you go into the EPG every day/week, and set up "One Programme" recordings, rather than use Series Links ?? That's quite an overhead

Rgds.

Mine did the same thing as yours.

Do you think it could have anything to do with the fact that BBC HD went interactive yesterday? - could this have upset the existing schedule?

I usually set a week but as I only use the Foxsat for HD recordings it's not really a problem. Being retired it gives my fingers something to do

I will likely use series when on holiday though.

Oh no......was just about to settle down to watch this and mine hasn't recorded either

I don't use series record as I find it unreliable so it was set as a single recording. I love this prog......anyone know if it's repeated anytime?

He he. I know what you mean, I'm between contracts at the moment (longer than I'd like, but in the current climate, to be expected), so I have plenty of time to be on DS, play with my HDR, and test out various scenarios

I'm not sure if there is a relation between BBCi & SL, but who knows?

I didn't have any other HD Timers set last night, did anyone else have other successful HD recordings of other progs last night?

Rgds.

Yellowstone is aired on a Sunday monday and wednesday unfortunately the wednesday airing is the last of the episode run

on an optomistic note I see that the BBC are showing Lost Land of the Jaguar on HD again so maybe in about three months time Yellowstone will receive the same treatment

Interesting theory starting at post 10 here

http://www.hummy.org.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=5760

Basically theory is failure or not might have depended on which transponder tuner 1 was using prior to recording

This is what I noted last night:
box parked on Ch4 as I had intended to load the buffer for Grand Designs and skip the ads. At 8:15ish noted that Yellowstone wasn't recording so switched over to watch it and set the recording for GDs. Around 10:05 after watching GD switched over to catch the BBC news then minutes later a brief message appeared saying no signal. I checked the Diagnostics and it reported there was no signal on tuner 1, I then pressed the exit button and the screen cleared of GUI and showed just the blue/grey swirly background and the remote failed to respond. I pressed the on/off on the stb and it shut down. on pressing the on/off using the remote the box rebooted and a diagnostic test showed both tuners working at 90% strength 100% quality as I normally have.

Graham,

Barry is saying the "running status change" may not be transmitted across all transponders. I presume this is the trigger/signal for the box to start recording?

(I would join in the discussion on Hummy.org, but I can't. Although I am a member, I have never got my confirmation email to respond to, to activate posting rights. I've used the "Contact Us" umpteen times to tell the mods this, but never got a reply, so I gave up !!)

So, if it is the "start signal" that is missing, given the set of circumstances with Tuner 1 & channel, this doesn't explain the programme being in the Media list as a failed recording, as explained in my post #38 above here.

Rgds.
