Surround Sound for ....
I am considering buying a dvd recorder either a sony RDRHXD890 or panasonic DMR-EX768EBK (e.g. with hard disk and freeserve) but I wonder what speakers people recommend to go with these systems.
I already have a 32" sony bravia tv. I currently have a sony davs300 surround sound system but it is on the brink of failure. Any advice greatly appreciated. |

You can spend between £100 and £25,000 on an AV amp and surround speakers. Give us an idea of your budget, and I'm sure people will be able to come up with suggestions.

A small budget really certainly below £500 but the cheaper the better.

There's a couple of very nice AV receivers on Richer Sounds for under £200 - an Onkyo TXSR506 and a Yamaha RXV363. Both support HDMI, coaxial and optical input.
They've also got various floorstanders for under £100 (and many more at under £200), sub-woofers for under £100, centres for £100 and loads of bookshelf surrounds for under £100. Or, you could buy one of dozens of speaker packages which will give you all six that you need for between £70 and £350 if you can't be bothered sourcing the best of each kind individually. You should be able to build a very nice shopping list for £500 out of all that they have to offer, and they'll put them all together for you in a demo room so you can listen to them and make sure that they sound pleasing to the ear. Alternatively, source slightly better second-hand ones on ebay, and for your £500 you can probably build a system that would have cost well over two thousand twelve months ago if all the individual parts had been bought brand new. The only downside to doing it this way is you won't be able to hear all the individual speakers together until you own them all. I bought a superb Sony AV amp on ebay for £60 and a couple of Eltax floorstanders for £20 that would have cost £400 to £500 if bought brand new from Richer Sounds - and they sound fantastic along with my existing centre speaker (Mordaunt Short), surrounds (Kenwood) and sub-woofer (KEF). |

Thanks for your advice.
I think I would prefer to buy a speaker package and would really like wireless speakers. Anyone recommend any packages. |
