You can't use iTunes to sync to anything except iPods.

Tracks downloaded from it ..... not so sure. When they were DRM'd all round, you could only use them on iPods. Dunno now that they have got rid of most DRM ....?

Of course, you'd be able to transfer music downloaded from iTunes if your mp3 player can play AAC/mpeg4 audio files. Also, your syncing software would have to support syncing AAC files, or your mp3 player support drag and drop - Windows Media Player for example won't sync AAC.

Do you have to download in AAC format in iTunes?

Can you not choose MP3 instead?

AAC only - pretty much the only player software that doesn't support AAC is Windows Media Player - other software like Winamp does

All encoded in ACC as it is the superior format. A 256kb ACC file will be just as good as a 320kb mp3.

Thus smaller file sizes for the same quality leading to reduced bandwidth costs, which when your serving up approx a billion songs every 6 months (or even less) bandwidth costs matter lol.

As do I, including for music videos, but unfortunately Zune software wouldn't sync to other players.

Well there you go ... I didn't know that.

Is it just Zunes (the last player I'd have expected it to work with!) or will it work with other players as well?
