According to Karen and Robin!

Putting his slight stumble aside, Donal's routine was filled with extensive solo skating, more complex manouvers and greater speed across the ice.

Why, then, is he being awarded 3.0 whilst lacklustre Nolan is receiving 3.5s??

I'm livid!

But then people like me can't see anything in Donal. It is all down to personal preference I suppose. That is why they have a phone in when all is said and done, the ones with the most fans win through

Totally agree with you (first post), Donals is good on the ice. Hope he will stay in.

Ok Donal had the stumbles tonight but his improvement over the last number of weeks has been amazing. People say how they like to see the progress of inexperienced skaters on the show and I have to admit Donal is one of the most improved I have seen for a while. Colleen has not changed from day one, as a poster said in another thread its like watching in slow motion. Unfortunately I think Donal may go tonight.

There's nothing subjective about marking the technical competencies and Donal is head and shoulders above Coleen in that department.

When has Coleen ever skated ??

Donal is undermarked every week IMO. I am getting really hacked off with it all. In fact I might bloody vote for him this week.

Oh yes I agree with you, but many don't feel the likeability factor with him and although I think to a certain extent the scores should be on ability if it was totally down to that there would be no need for a phone in.

Thats a complete joke isn't it - he's way better than her

But then Coleen got a better mark than Roxanne off of Ruthie tonight too.

Its all weird

Surely a good skater who stumbles is better than a poor skater who doesn't? Sorry to be so negative about Coleen but tonight it looked like Stuart was swinging a sack of potatoes around. Not because she isn't pretty or appealing but because she does NOTHING, just waits for him to do all the work! Whereas Donal did loads! Where's his credit for that?

Coleen is consistently overmarked and Donal (except perhaps this week because I haven't seen it yet) consistently undermarked.

That's just plain ridiculous. Even though he stumbled tonight, Donal is far superior in every respect. In fact, since Todd left, Coleen has been the worst contestant by a mile.

I'm really annoyed about this. Donel was doing moves that everyone bar Ray, Jess and Zoe would struggle to do. So he slipped, it happens to the professionals sometimes as shown by Pavel's mistake tonight. Donel is not getting credit for his skating abilities and now he is performing them as well, what more can the poor lad do?

Seems nobody's happy with any of the individual judges this evening...

I wonder what makes you say that. That's not my experience at all.

Hi Peugeot

I appreciate what you're saying.

The likeability factor (which, by the way, I believe Donal has by the bucket load!) determines phone votes.

But my grievance is with the judge's marks which should reflect what happens on the ice alone. And whether you've warmed to him or not, Donal outclasses Coleen with regards to the skating.

Goodness, Sid, thought the thread title was something you agreed with.

Absolutely agree, Coleen (spelt right now I think) is a much poorer skater than Donal.

Precisely.

This sends out the wrong message - that it's better to play it safe and not make errors than progress and take a few chances even though it means making a mistake.

How boring would the show be if everyone skated like Coleen?

*chuckles*

It was misleading on purpose Rhumba - made it more provocative

Coleen should have got 2's, she doesn't skate she just stands there until her partner pulls her along again.

Not to mention T&D's mishap during Will's ballad. However, the difference is that Donal let it effect the remainder of his performance, unlike the previous week when he fell, got up immediately and got on with it.

The skating judges will always forgive a mistake if you skate through it - in fact Nicky's scores go up if you can do that - but equally, if you allow an error to effect the remainder of your performance they will punish you for it.

This is what happened tonight, no bias toward/against Coleen or Donal.

He did no such thing.

Donal recovered his composure quickly and picked up where he left off.
