Agree with the OP, Donal is amongst the three best skaters in the competition and was under-marked tonight - Karen's bias toward Coleen is vomit inducing.

No he didnt Sid. If you watch it again he was very unbalanced after the initial stumble and went on to make other slip ups. My heart sank as I was really rooting for Donal and as I said on another thread, I hope he is in the skate-off so he can show us all how well he can skate this routine (his performance was excellent).

This does seem to support my belief that Donal does have the 'likability factor', since he has not been in the bottom two so far despite being less high-profile than most of the other contestants, and even though he stumbled tonight and was second-bottom on the leaderboard.

Absolutely Lulu.

He's a charming man, a true gent. And he has a gem of a partner in Florentine.

I also believe the rather harsh marks he's receiving are causing the audience to sympathise with him and protest through voting!

I do not think that his marks were harsh, considering the number of mistakes he made.

The skating judges will always forgive a mistake if you skate through it - in fact Nicky's scores go up if you can do that - but equally, if you allow an error to effect the remainder of your performance they will punish you for it.

This is what happened tonight, no bias toward/against Coleen or Donal.”

But even with all that he was still much better than Coleen.

Yes, Donal did stumble a couple of times this week, so he did deserve lower scores than he has been receiving, but week after week Donal has taken on board the judges comments and worked on them which is far more than can be said about Coleen who is just doing the same routine week after week. And has been over-marked week after week, in my opinion.

Donal's mark looks about right - 3 certainly and probably 5 people are better. The problem is Coleen is weaker and not all judges are showing it though the overall mark for her is.

Thats acceptable because the strategic problem with the show now is how to get rid of Colleen before any more much better people go. One way to do that is to give her reasonable looking marks and friendly overpositive comments so that she doesn't get a big anti-judge vote behind her. You mark her bottom but don't make it look as if you did. It may not be working, but its the best strategy there is and throwing the odd mark her way to achieve it is probably worth it. The problem isn't the judges its the size of the vote for Colleen and the fact that there would be more of them if the judges gave her marks proportionate to Donal let alone Ray..

Phew! I thought this was going to be a slate Donal thread. I can calm down now lol!

Donal is the singularly most improved skater out of the lot. Every week he tries to better himself or do something different and for that I applaud him. He deserves to be top three - hell, he deserves to win, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

Colleen is a nice lady but I would rather watch paint dry than her skating.

When he started, he could barely stand up on the ice. If winners were picked on their progress from start to finish, then he would win hands down. Going off topic (sorry)... aren't his kids adorable?

I wonder why no-one else commented on that. I though Chris's shoulder must have gone again when he nearly dropped Jayne.

The judges are all a bit inconsistent with their marks, some mentioning no names Ruthie! much worse than others, but Donal must be getting lots of votes from the viewers who can see that at least he can skate by himself and is improving week by week. In any case, he can't be voted off can he or there would only be one male left!

Donal is the most improved, Colleen barely ever let's go of Stuart's hand. Donal pushes himself & tries new moves & unfortunately has has a few tumbles as a result. Colleen spent a third of Sunday's performance dancing on the spot. I think that Colleen, Jessica & Zoe seem to be getting over marked. I think it was a few weeks ago when Zoe didn't even do the required element & it wasn't mentioned. P.S. Why was Pip dressed as Tom Hank's character from The Polar Express?

Why is Jessica getting overmarked? she does the most solo skating second only to Ray. I also dont' remember Zoe skipping the required element?

You can't see anything in a contestant who is performing as good pure skating as any of them and you can in a padded statue with skates on.

How is Jessica being overmarked? If anything she is being undermarked. That routine last night deserved at least 25.

It's a travesty that Soulless Zoe is marked anywhere near her.
