'Marguerite' was received pretty positively by critics actually, and ran for four months, closing six weeks earlier than scheduled. Not a disaster by any means. Ruthie's musical theatre career extends substantially beyond 'Chicago' too.
I've already said that Ruthie judges primarily performance rather than technique. She herself has said this. She also said that Roxanne "doesn't do it for her". Roxanne doesn't do it for me either. It doesn't mean I don't like her, she's fine, but I find other performances preferable.
