Was at the gig at Barrowlands on Friday and what a gig!!

Absolutely amazing from start to finish. The crowds were well up for it and I think it rubbed off on the band.

I've seen Blur 4 times now and that was not only the best I've seen them but also the best gig I've ever been to.

Anyone who is going is in for a great night.

What's the set list like?

I refuse to go and see Blur again until Damon stops being such a tosser and accepts that his best work was done before 1997.

Mile End in 1995 was the greatest gig i've ever been to - the zenith of Blur as pogo-crazy, strutting Britpop wonderfulness. I saw them in Nottingham as part of the Beetlebum tour and they were still good, but had really, REALLY lost their edge.

Then Damon and Alex disappeared up their own arses and the band went to shit.

I have taken this from the message board at blur.co.uk

There set was -

Ambulance
Beetlebum
Girls&Boys
Badhead
Good Song
Gene x Gene
Tender
Caravan
Out of Time
Brothers& Sisters
Song 2
To the End
End of a Century
Trimm Tab
Battery
The Universal

encore:

Sing
For Tommorow
On the Way to the Club
File on you
This is a low

They also played Advert. I can't remember where abouts in the set it was but they definately played it because Damon stage dived during it.

The new album sounds much better live than it does on CD as well.

Yeah, so they're still up their own arses then. Until Parklife, Country House and Bank Holiday come back to the set, then i won't be buying tickets. Not because they're the best songs, but because Damon is still trying to pretend their fame WASN'T based on bouncy power pop.

Ah well, looks like that unless they do another singles tour you will never see them again!!

IIRC the last time they played Parklife was at T in the Park in 99.

I don't think they are try to deny how they got famous but over time styles change and Blur have done this.

The very fact that they played songs from Leisure, MLIS and Parklife shows that they haven't forgotten their 'roots'.

MLIS? MLIR, methinks

It's not that they're not playing songs from their old albums, it's that the songs they choose to play nowadays are NOT the ones that were live favourites earlier in their careers. I wouldn't mind if they'd been superceded, but to drop Parklife for Badhead? Seems to me like they have DEFINITELY forgotten their roots - it smacks of them doing it out of spite more than anything else. When i go and see Blur, i expect to see their best songs, not the ones that they regard as 'cool enough' for their new image. Crap.

You are quite correct MLIR not MLIS.

I think they just got to the point where they were fed up playing Parklife.

The fans may have liked it but maybe the band didn't?!?

I was shocked they played Badhead, was hoping that they would play Tracey Jacks after that as well but they didn't.

I understand where you are coming from though. If I went to see Oasis I would expect them to play Wonderwall as it is my favourite Oasis song and if they didn't play it I would feel a bit let down.
