Does anyone know where on the front panel the remote sensor is? I'm using my box with an extender/repeater but am not getting very good performance. Usually it's quite obvious but I can't see it on the HDR - at the moment i've got the IR transmitter at the bottom right of the clear panel pointing diagonally across.

I think the ir sensor is just to the left of the display. Have you removed the clear film protector over the display under the flap (it's very hard to spot and even harder to find an edge to remove it ?

Yes - both the outer and inner films are off. I wonder how much of it is just the slow response of the box itself - even with the remote right in front of the unit it's a bit erratic about picking up letter selections when entering keywords.

I had a play with a 9200 freeview box today and it seemed 'snappier'.

If you look at the flap-down panel you should see a window in it in front of the IR sensor. From how you've described the position of the repeater, it's possible that the beam from it through the window will miss the sensor.

The problem is indeed that the IR sensor is not at the direct front of the box, but behind the flap, with a little window in the flap. By having the IR sensor moved further back, the angle of direction (remote to IR sensor) is limited quite a lot. All other devices with IR on the front have a lot better angle to point on. (even with the foxsatHDR remote)

I found the outside film easily but have never been able to find this 'inner' one! Does it just cover the lit display or does it go left, all the way to the end of the box (ie: around all the wee buttons inside the flap aswell).

Yes it goes all the way to the left with cut outs where the buttons are.

found it - thanks. That's made a huge difference - I'd got it in completely the wrong place and it's now better via the repeater than holding the remote in front of the HDR.

I'm just about attach a repeater, where did you put yours for optimum performance? I had the same thought this morning that the repeater might work better than the the orginal remote!

i tipped down the front panel and looked at it from above - it was then easy to see where the window was and i stuck the emitter on the outside.

The front panel doens't open very well now but not a problem.
