Its not really that Jessica is not popular (that would mean people don't like her). Its just that she lacks a fanbase - viewers probably think she is a great skater but not enough people feel strongly enough in her favour to pick up the phone and pay 35p!

I think it is more likely that they thought she was safe. Everyone I have spoken to loves Jess but never vote so maybe next week it'll push people too.

On another thread 2 posters admitted they didn't vote for Jessica because they thought she would be safe. I'm sure they weren't the only 2. Hopefully next week will be different.

I do think it was that she was "safe" but even if it wasn't to be honest I think Jess will still make the final whether shes popular with the vote or not, cos they'd save her in the bottom 2 against all bar Ray unless she messed up majorly in a skate off...

Tbh up until this evening, Jessica didn't really register on my radar. Yes recognised she could skate well but didn't particularly look forward to watching her.

Tonight I found her performance very moving and hope not to see her in the skate off again.

As I said I like zoe and have always oved matt but I do feel they are artifically propping her up a bit to make it more of a contest. They'd save Jess, it might be 4-1(ruthie) but Jess would go through quite easily

I had never heard of Jessica until DOI, she seems a nice genuine person and an improving skater (which to me is what DOI is all about) I hope she will be there to the end. She will have my vote . I was gob smacked when she was in the skate off.

I'm afraid I don't like Jessica's performances much. She seems cold somehow - reminds me of Rachel on SCD, technically good, but no soul.

SliverOfDiamond - you beat me too it. I totally agree. She's an ice maiden. There's no soul there. It's exactly the same as Rachel in SCD. I guess it comes with territory of being in manufactured pop bands. Any personality is sucked out of them. What's left is preened and airbrushed to perfection, and what you are left with is essentially a fembot (remember the fembots in the Austin Powers films).
She can skate well but I don't warm to her. Ditto Zoe.

So which of the women supposedly has "soul"? Energizer Bunny Zoe? Almost too scared to move Coleen? Nothing special Melinda? Roxy?

None of them do for me tbh.

Melinda was the only female celeb that appealed to me at all, but it was obvious that she would never win DOI. Jessica is a beautiful skater, but she just doesn't WOW me - I just don't feel a spark of excitement watching her. The other female celebs don't appeal to me at all and each irritate me for different reasons.

The only celebs left I would consider voting for are Ray and Donal and I will probably vote to keep Donal in until Ray need the votes.

Coleen has a personality off the ice, which is presumably why people are voting for her.

On the ice? No-one. Not one of the women are conveying any warmth at all through their dancing.

I was shocked that Jessica was in the bottom two. People are obviously not voting for who is the most talented.

She most probably came bottom in the viewer vote giving her 6 + 1 pts and Colleen who got 1 pt with the judges therefore at the very LEAST came 2nd with the viewers which would have given her 1 + 6 pts which would give her the same overall votes as Jessica but more viewer votes. She may well even have come top with the viewers.

For Jess and Mel to get into the bottom 2 - Coleen had to have topped the public vote

1 point + 7 points = 8

Jess had 6 + 1 or 2 = 7 or 8
Melinda had 4 + 1 or 2 = 5 or 6

The lowest combined points Jess could have got was 7 so Coleen had to get 6 or 7 from the public (total 7 or 8 to escape the skate off) , and Donal and Roxy also had to have got good public scores as they needed to equal or better a total of 7 to jump over Jess.

I'm a Jess fan and I will be voting for her next week - she will in all likelihood be 2nd again next week and as we have seen - even a 2nd place doesn't guarantee safety when you have the Loose Women vote for Coleen, the Blue Peter fans (kids) vote for Zoe, the saop fans/ Daniel votes for Roxy.... and the he's cute/ phwoar! vote for Donal....

I don't think she's an ice maiden. I find her sweet and warm on the ice and thought she projected plenty of personality in Venus. The disco type song she did was a little less powerful because she was so distracted by the arm movements, but overall I disagree with there being no warmth to her.

Harsh to say that someone you don't know has no personality.

I disagree about Zoe. I think Zoe has a very sweet and charming manner... she just doesn't have so much in the way of talent.

Then again, I (like 40 tour shows

) thought Rachel was fabulous.
