Is this the worst series yet?

I'm not sure about you but I feel deflated and we're only halfway through the series.

It started very promising with legendary skates from Todd and a good mix of celebs with different abilities. But this week it felt like a spark has gone and usually at this stage it steps up a gear toward the final but I think with Ray scoring 30 last week and Jessica being bottom 2 this week the show is losing credibility.

More than ever, people seem to be voting on personalities and Coleen especially seems to be sailing through based on her post-skate chats and existing fanbase. The judges aren't helping matters at all with their random scores and showing obvious bias toward their favourites.

Lastly, it feels like we have a complete one horse race with Ray - at this stage in series 1 it was anybody's, series 2 it was between Kyran and Clare, last series between Chris and Suzanne but now Jessica has been bottom 2 it seems we have our winner unless Zoe is the ultimate dark horse or Roxanne/Coleen's fanbases are too strong to compete with!

Last year was better, this is my second year with DOI and this year isn't impressing me that much. Shame really after last years fantastic season, I hope it's better next year or I will stop watching.

They needed stronger females.
Ray is by far the best male skater in previous years we had a female skater just as good sadly thats not the case this year.
They didnt get the balance right and its clear Ray will win and the final will just be really predictable.

how anyone can say that after seeing Jessica in the bottom two shocks me

for weeks now everyone has said its a Jessica Ray final but it obviously not a clean cut as everyone thinks because she was in the bottom two and i also think people forget the public vote the wnner look at last year chris was fav to win and never

Yes...
I dont think its clear cut Ray will win the popularity contest bit but in terms of an actual skating contest its over. Nobody will compete with him skating wise, they will only beat him purely if they are more likeable.
Also last year was different, its not like chris was getting 29 and suzanne 22, they was a constant battle between them the whole way through and she overtook him several times and there was only a point in it a few times. It was a very close run thing the whole way through, they pushed each other to be excellent this year ray is on his own skating wise.
They got the balence of contests wrong this year unfortunately. Ray is good to watch but for me he doesnt make up for the lack of competition, if only we had someone who could compete with him in terms of skating and not just popularity, I think it would make ray a better skater as well having competition. This series has been a let down for me. Other than ray the standard is way lower at this point than previous years. They are under pressure every year to try and do better than the last one, I didnt think they'd top series 2 but they did last year, but that set the bar really high and in trying to beat that they brought in the wrong people i think and killed it. I'm still watching but in a way I'm also looking forward to next year and the tour cos Ray will have some competition (Suzanne and Kyran and possibily Chris if he's doing it).
It not clear ray will win, but he wont be beaten because someone skated better, skating wise there is no competition, for me this year we've had some good performances from Ray but as an overall show it has been poor.

I completely agree with you. I think this series of dancing on ice has just in a word gone 'stale'.

*We have Jason every week coming up with more elaborate metaphors for how bad people can look, though to his credit the last few weeks he has become much more constructive.
*We have Ruthie, who shows clear bias towards certain skaters and is completely inconsistent with her marks.
* The standard has completely gone down, definately the worst year I think, although we have had some of the best performances ever.
*We have a completely predictable winner, whom even without public vote deserves to win, purely for the fact he can skate better then the others put together. Therefore there is no element of surprise except when one of the other skaters makes a slight improvment.

The show seriously needs a revamp of we're going to go for season five.

How do you work that one out? Ray is head and shoulders above any previous male contestant (and I include Kyran Bracken and very definitely Chris Fountain) but equally Jessica is in a different league to Suzanne Shaw and Claire Buckfield.

For me this is the best year so far all-around. Sure there is/was deadwood such as Coleen and Todd but even the mediocre ones are far better than they have been in prevoius years.

I like this year. Ray is unbelievably good.

Last year I loved Chris, and the Timewarp was my favourite ever dance. But Suzanne really picked up over the series and she deserved to win (partly because I really think the final is better suited to girls - Chris looked ungainly and lumpy in the air, but I guess Ray will look better)

It is a bit disappointing that clearly Jessica is struggling with public support. The judges will have to keep her in, and like so many female stars on SCD, she'll probably fail to win however much she improves. Which is a shame, because she is improving massively!
